50 Shades of Grey brought a lot of people to BDSM but does 50shadestodate.com bring you lots of kinky people to date? The site guarantees a 'fuck tonight' but is that the truth? In serving our vision to be the most trusted BDSM and Fetish community, we asked Victoria Blisse (The Queen of Smut) to get in touch with her inner goddess and check it out.

50 Shades to Date Visual Appeal | Made for Mr Grey

50shadestodate.com has definitely been set up to draw in the kink curious. It's light and bright, and the images are titillating, not extreme or pornographic. Strangely though, since women viewers predominantly enjoyed 50 Shades of Grey, 50shadestodate.com still seems to be aimed at men. That seems a little counter-intuitive.

I was intrigued to see a blog linked on the landing page, I clicked to check out the content  - but there was nothing there at all, which is a bit sloppy. The link should be removed if the content no longer exists.

50 Shades to Date Navigation and User Feel | Simple Submission

Signing up to 50shadestodate.com is pretty easy, you first need your email address, date of birth and password along with details of your gender (male, female, couple, CD/TV/TS) and what you're looking for. At least the gender list isn't completely binary, but it still manages to miss Transgender, using old fashioned and some might say offensive terms instead.

During the sign-up process, the site asks if you're looking for submission, domination or if you're a switch.  It also asks to choose the age of people you're looking for, select from a list of interests (erotic fiction, sex toys, fetish etc.) and a limited list of what kind of meets you're looking for. It mentions hookups, romance, and long-term dating, but there's no mention of play partner or other short-term options. Some people might want to play or have sex on a first meet, but there doesn't seem to be an option for that.

At this point, you're asked for a code which 50shadestodate.com has sent to your email address. Now you get to confirm where you live and add a little personal detail to your profile. However, I put that I am a masochist, and this was flagged up as a word that might not be approved by the moderators. Why on earth would masochist be a naughty word on a BDSM site?

50shadestodate.com is easy enough to move around, easy to find all the features, and you can access everything with your free profile. However, you can't fully use all the features for free. I found that frustrating.

50 Shades to Date Community Feel | Some Shades of Interaction

One of the first things I noticed on looking round 50shadestodate.com was the link to the blogs. Quite a few users are posting, but many are just personal ads looking for hookups. Some are fantasies people share. It's not easy to sift through the different kinds of posts. I looked at comments on some of these blogs too, and they very rarely feedback on the content, mostly they're just looking for hookups. So if that's what you're looking for this might be a good feature to use.

There is a forum too. Again, most of the threads seem to be nothing more than personal ads, but there are plenty of posts and some areas of conversation also. It might not be the perfect kink-positive community, but there is interaction from lots of members all over the globe. So you know there's going to be kinksters around any time you log in.

Is 50shadestodate.com Free? Only a Few Shades without Payment

You can use 50shadestodate.com with a free account and access most of the features. You can't view photos or videos but other than that you can access everything else. However, there are definite limitations. You can't always answer messages, and mostly you can't send them either. It's complicated to work out the precise rules over messaging but basically unless you pay, you can't have a proper conversation in messages.

A premium account costs £22.86 a month, but you can get reductions for signing up in bulk. However, I'd recommend checking out the site for free first to check if there are other users who you'd be interested in interacting with first.

50 Shades to Date Help and FAQ's | Helpless

There are no FAQ or any help pages to access. You do get some hints and tips when you sign up to 50shadestodate.com, but that's it. If you have any issues using the site, you can send a ticket via the contact form under the helpdesk heading.

50 Shades to Date Final Thoughts | Real or Not?

There are plenty of users at 50shadestodate.com - from the lightly kinky to the darkly deviant, all out to connect with other sex and kink-positive individuals. It's not very easy to pursue these connections without paying to upgrade though, unfortunately. Also if you're looking for other fetishists, you might not be in luck here. The emphasis is very much on D/s with other elements of BDSM but not so much fetish in general.
