When you first enter a bondage dungeon, you will probably be given a tour by a member of staff, but that might not always answer all your questions, and maybe you’re a little shy about asking. Never ***! Victoria Blisse is here to tell you everything you’d like to know the spanking bench, a stalwart piece of dungeon furniture.

What does a spanking bench look like?

There are a few different styles of spanking bench. Most that I have seen have a table-like look with a soft covering (often leather) on the top and over the kneeling rests for comfort before your butt gets uncomfortable. Some are higher off the ground, others lower to the floor. All have rests for your body and your knees. My favourite one has two knee rests that part your legs as you lean on them. It’s very comfortable and gives me the chance to hop up and dance around if my bottom really stings.

Tops, if you want to secure your bottoms, many spanking benches have built-in restraints. Just remember the safety implications of having someone restrained while they’re being hit. Sometime BDSM benches are V-shaped, designed to be straddled, leaving the bottom feeling a little more *** but still safely positioned for a sound spanking.

How do you use a spanking bench?

As the name suggests, spanking benches are made for impact play. Mostly focused on the bottom and thighs because of the positioning of the spankee, if you want to concentrate on the shoulders and back then another piece of equipment would probably suit you better. However, you can get your sub to sit on the spanking bench to present their inner thighs and crotch area, so impact play isn’t restricted to the buttocks per se.

You can use the bench for other forms of play too. Electric and wax play, for example. The person on the receiving end will be on a secure safe base, and it gives the top easy access all around them. These methods are certain to leave you with lots of naughty spanking stories.

What implements can you use?

Of course, you can use your hands to mete out your punishment and play but if you want to make full use of the dungeon equipment and dungeon bondage benches, then the ones you can use in close quarters are best. Paddles and canes, for example, are great to use as well as straps and slappers. They don’t require a massive amount of room to swing, and you can be incredibly focused on where they land. Floggers can be used too, but maybe those of a shorter length is best, you need to be able to closely control the implements you use to make sure you hit only the fleshy parts of the body presented to you.

Although yobi’s and snake whips may work, longer whips are going to be too unwieldy for use with your sub bent over on a caning bench. And of course, if you’re in a busy bondage dungeon always keep one eye on the scenes going on around you as you don’t want to hit someone else accidentally.

Dungeon bondage safety tips

As with all and scenes and the spanking stories they create, it’s essential to be aware of all the things that could go wrong with your dungeon bondage experience so you can concentrate on making it all go right.

Being a submissive or bottom using the spanking bench, it is crucial to be aware of your own safety. Be ready to use your safe word if needed and always voice any concerns you have. Any good Top or Dom will be thankful to hear this information and will do all they can to allay any concerns. Tops should think carefully about the appropriate bondage bench and dungeon equipment to use and the space needed to do so, especially as previously stated if the dungeon is busy.

If the bottom is restrained be sure to check that the ties aren’t too tight and that they have some space to move and pull against restraints when being hit. The person being hit may wriggle and strain, and you don’t want to hurt them in a way that isn’t pleasurable. Only use restraints with a play partner you know confidently. If it is a new play partner, leave them free to move and jump in response to the impact.

Most dungeons have a spanking bench for your roleplay

When you have finished your scene wipe down the area with disinfectant (usually provided by the dungeon). Even if your play produced no *** or semen, there is likely to have been sweat at least. You then leave the spanking bench sparkly clean for the next user.

Hopefully, this guide has given you all you need to use a spanking bench confidently and will prepare you for plenty of naughty spanking stories, but remember, if you have any concerns about how to safely use a specific item of dungeon furniture, please ask a member of staff. Your safety is of utmost importance, so if you’re in doubt, ask!
