If you’re looking for some fetish fun but time's short and you fancy a change from the clubs, internet dating is a great option. So, in our series of fetish dating website reviews, Fetish.com checks out One44. But will this fetish website help you get off or find a kinky date?

Luck has little to do with internet hook-ups or finding play partners. You can have killer chat-up lines and be the sexiest BDSM demon on the planet, but if the dating site you’re on is rubbish it’ll never work out.

Some fetish dating sites offer a fantastic amount of utility for their members; the creators have a genuine feel for the lifestyle and love engaging with a wider community.

At the other end of the spectrum, the opposite is true and the entire place can feel shoddy. One44 doesn’t come across as a scam site, but something essential is definitely lacking.

The central core of members is small, anal sex is god and the BDSM lifestyle is reduced to a few carefully posed soft-core porn images.

Membership is free for a month which, should be long enough to turn anyone off from the entire experience, but if not, for $5 you can stay all year.

Problem after problem...

Joining the One44 kink community is complicated by the terrible web design, broken links and the need to repeat the entire processes endlessly.

After signing up you get a welcome email with a link, you can confirm your account and then sign in, but the site won’t budge.

After trying a different route in, refreshing the page and closing it altogether, the homepage is finally revealed. Unlike other sites we've reviewed, One44 doesn’t waste any time, new members land straight onto a newsfeed that looks like a special anal edition of Hustler.

Fetish dating: One44 review one44.netThe basic design of One44 has a lot to be desired...

Here members can join each other in chat and Like or Comment, just like Facebook. During our Fetish dating: One44 review it didn't seem like much of a fetish site at all. Initially you don’t get any choice about who lists you as a friend, but if you decide to get rid of someone it’s easy to remove them.

Ghost town

For members from the UK or the US, finding fetish partners or any kinky community activities in your area is going to be tough, in London there are just 11 members. That may be why the groups section is like a ghost town, most have no more than two members to chat with.

However, the Deviants Den in the Wild group is packing them in with 20, all visitors from the popular devientsden.co.uk site. Chat is available; you can search for members by name or wait for friends to come online.

Most of the members are from South Africa or Australia

There are active members who appear regularly on One44, but because the site is based in South Africa the bias is on members from there and Australia.

Other than the homepage there are lots of other sections, none of which are being massively used. The photos section has 13 explicit shots, while in the videos area topics like Blow Job Techniques and BDSM Lifestyle for Beginners are inexplicably lined up next to Joe Cocker in concert at Woodstock.

There’s nothing happening in the Events section, but the blogs may be worth a look if you have nothing else to do. Oh, and One44's polls are unbelievably mundane.

Why run a kinky site that isn't really that kinky?

A look at One44's social media presence makes it even less clear. An old post on Facebook claims: “This is not a dating site”, a more recent post downgrades it to “This is not just a dating site.”

Maybe this is one person’s vision and they need to get a handle on where to take it. Either way, perhaps they're hiring for a web designer and a social media manager.

Fetish dating: One44 review one44.net
All in all, One44 is a big let-down when it comes to kinky fetish dating!

One44 has a vaguely BDSM atmosphere, but it’s overwhelmingly catering for straight men with a slight kink. The numerous images of anal sex provide a taboo thrill for many vanilla men, but the naked women in high street lingerie are just lad’s mag fodder.

Fetish fans join kinky dating sites because their interests are still considered an underground phenomenon. This lifestyle involves real people with an active imagination and emotional intelligence. We deserve more.

Don’t bother with One44 if you’re looking for anything approaching a social network, you’ll get more genuine community interaction at Porn Hub.

A very biased and outdated review.
