Kinky Reviews: The Fetish Dating Club - There are plenty of legit fetish dating sites that give kinky players a chance to make contacts and hook up in a mutually beneficial environment. You can sound out a potential play partner before you meet, and discuss what your bondage boundaries are while you’re still at the messaging stage. That kind of set up works out well for S&M lovers who are dedicated to the lifestyle and know they’re unlikely to meet their next service-orientated sub on an average night out. However, other BDSM dating sites are springing up in response to recent kinky forays into popular culture and these may be a let down for anyone with real sadomasochistic tendencies.

Kinky Reviews: The Fetish Dating Club

With a very prominent zero commitment declaration, an insistence on ‘no rules’ and a that-book-and-film-we-won't-mention themed cover picture, The Fetish Dating Club is aimed squarely at a horny vanilla crowd who don’t intend to date before they get down and dirty.

The Fetish Dating Club thinks all kinksters are straight

The signup process is free and starts with you telling people a little about yourself – literally, one line - and then adding a photo, both are optional. Then you can complete the characteristics and interests section. The usual eye colour, hair and build questions are all there with a few about safe sex and positions chucked in. Interestingly there is no option for lesbian, gay or bisexually orientated people. At The Fetish Dating Club you’re either a ‘man looking for a woman’ or a ‘woman looking for a man’, it’s strange to exclude such a massive section of our community, especially as the site uses the rhetoric of alternative sexuality.

The interests section is similarly tame, with tick boxes for Swingers, Strip Clubs, Orgies and Anal – it’s never going to set the world alight, in fact it all looks a bit 1970s. The weirdest interest listed has to be ‘Visiting “Special” Shops’. I wasn’t sure if I was missing something there, like a particularly niche fetish, but having Googled it, I think they’re just a bit shy about saying sex shops.

Inside the Fetish Dating Club's community

There seem to be plenty of active members and after signing up I got a message telling me my profile would have to be approved before it went public. That took about 5 minutes and I could soon get browsing through thousands of profiles. To search for exactly what kinky type you’re after, there are filters that let you narrow it down. These are basic vanilla preferences though, so don’t expect to find any sadomasochistic terms here. There’s pierced, shaved, cut, hair colour, endowed etc. If you’ve been spoilt on S&M dating sites that truly celebrate the lifestyle, this is a letdown.

Kinky Reviews: The Fetish Dating Club

Is the Fetish Dating Club really fetish dating?

Then you've got the members... Aside from a few tits or cock shots the profile pictures are almost identical to the ones used on any vanilla site. However, there are plenty of members and they seem to be spread all over the UK. The site immediately linked up with my location and told me how far away people were, which is a handy little extra. The profiles I looked at have very little personal information which is fair enough for a casual sex site, but if you are after genuine BDSM pleasure you’ll have to look hard. Most men and women are looking for oral, adult movies and no strings. Aside from a man who was wearing his plastic shower curtain like a sarong, I saw no BDSM focused desires and no chat about bondage.

There’s a trickle of community spirit in the Dairies section, where you can write a blog post about your latest conquests or put a shout out to anyone in your local area. One woman seems to use it for general chit chat, whilst another moans about members using fake photos: “I've seen the same cock picture on three different profiles”, she moans. A man has a rant about men who lose their erections - not something he’s ever suffered from apparently - and it all drifts on in the same vein. If you get bored, head over to Who’s Viewed Me to see if you've hit the jackpot, but otherwise your only other option is to get out your credit card for camgirls, or Live Models as they’re called here.

The Fetish Dating Club is an extremely straight, conventional place, nothing like a true kinky dating site and the owners do nothing to promote their apparent interest in the fetish lifestyle, or any of our subcultures. It's a clone of a big database by a whitelabel dating provider, which means proviles are shared amongst all "dating websites" that are part of the program, which explains that your users are not kinky as they most likely have never signed up on a kinky website, but on flingsnear.me or TheShagClub or BritishGrannyDating...
