Age verification?

I can't get the video player to record in Edge, Firefox or Chrome.

Mods replied that it may be a hardware issue.

Could switch laptops and try, but I thought that this is crazy.

WHY HAVE AN AGE 18+ RESTRICTION AT ALL ?

Isn't obvious from your verified photo that you are over 18 ?

I can walk into a pub or shop and be served alcohol because they see me to be adult, so why do we ned verification here?

Hi there,

We have  the age verification and 18+ check in place for very important reasons, not least of which is making sure we're operating legally.

Also just to clarify The profile verification check  just confirms you are who you say you are (fights against fakes), the 18+ check is a proof of age and identity.

As an online community we have a legal obligation to protect minors - otherwise we couldn't operate.

Most shops and pubs have policies to check ID of anyone who looks under age. That's exactly what we do here  too.

I appreciate the both checks, but I had a free trial premium membership and I got 18 verified. My premium has now been taken away, which apparently means I am no longer 18+, because I now need to verify myself again. It was such a hassle in the first place and I thought it was finally over.

I used my mobile to record/verify myself - was a lot easier

Hiya, I'll check into this for you!

Thank you. I found a Q&A article on the matter, which clearly states that losing premium means you do need to verify again. It's there in "black and white", but it seems illogical. I am no longer a premium member, so it is unclear if I am still older than 18?

All help is greatly appreciated Victoria!

That doesn't make any sense at all.

You go into a shop and they judge whether you are 18 or not.

If in doubt they ask for proof (similar to the profile verification check)

They don't ask you to make a Hollywood video of yourself.

1. You don't need to TWO separate checks, you only need ONE.

That one check can include everything.

2. You don't need a video, when you have a photo. Or vice versa.

3. A procedure is pointless when it doesn't work. I've tried 3 browsers and have wasted too much time already.

It's like talking to an idiot. Do you really think I am under 18 ?

If not, why can't you use your Common Sense and determine that I am over 18 ?

Every shop, every nightclub would go out of business if it treated it's customers like children.

Such businesses are operating under exactly the same legal requirement and don't say their customers "it's a hardware issue".

They actually sort out the mess themselves.

such businesses are NOT operating under the same legal requirements.

1) you are aware of the digital economy act, yes? "I am 18 honest" will soon no longer suffice.
2) if you're in a shop without ID people can general gauge you are old enough by looking at you, mind, we do have challenge 25 now
3) I've got lots of photos on my PC of people who aren't me. A kinda small bespoke video does go to verify who you are which will help with the forthcoming law.

If you have a problem with this - perhaps you should have helped fight some of the law changes like the rest of us?!

I stand corrected.

The Digital Economy Act 2017 imposes a specific obligation to ensure all users are over 18.

The penalties are quite severe (up to £250,000 fine or up to 5% of their turnover).

But the Act gives no definition of what "age Verification" is. ( Proving age using credit card details, the electoral roll and pay-monthly mobile phone contracts have all been suggested, but the government has admitted that forcing you to expose your identity might be a step too far. And so, it'll likely be some time before this new law can be en***d as the government and newly appointed regulator decide on the best and least intrusive way for porn sites to verify age).

Even allowing for that, the verification process should consist of video verification alone, no separate picture is necessary.

And it becomes more imperative to deal with technical difficulties arising from the video not recording etc.

yeah - this is a lot of the problem that no one really knows how it'll be en***d : it was long grassed from April, but now likely to be around October that things are announced with sites needing to be compliant by next April.

So, it kinda makes sense for some of the bigger sites to try to pre-empt things so they don't have to sign up to expensive software.

Miiind - of course, this doesn't change that if there are tech problems with the ones on this site, they do need looking into.

No problem, I'll see if there's anything that can be done about it :)

I think @eyemblacksheep has answered you thoroughly, thanks for that!

Please note, you have now received a warning for insults. I am very happy to help out as much as I can, I'm not at all keen on being called an idiot.

Of course I can't tell you're 18. You are words on a screen. This is why, as explained, we have the various verification options.

Please respond respectfully to comments. It is one of the guidelines with using the forum.

If you would like to explain to me exactly what your issue is, I will do my best to find the right person to answer your query in full.

So, is it wrong to call someone an idiot when they are (in reality) an idiot ?

Calling someone an idiot is not necessarily a bad thing.

It actually makes idiots realize they are idiots and gives them the opportunity to desist from idiotic behaviour. Otherwise they would be oblivious to their idiocy.

Is it wrong to criticise anyone or only the baby Moderators ?

I've been insulted and called names and you didn't see me crying about it.

Think you ought to grow up, develop a thicker skin, and treat people here like adults rather than children.

I'd rather have Free Speech & Open Debate than Peevish Authoritarian Control & Censorship.

P.S. I am more than "words on a screen" I have verified my account.

So you do have a picture of me from which to determine my age.

Your asking for passports, driving licenses is playing right into the hands of government who seek to control Porn.

When people talk about free speech they always focus on the right to express opinion and forget about the respect of the rights or reputation of others bit.

Yes, and when people talk about Political Correctness or being phoney to others, it can only stifle honest, open discussion.

Perhaps Fetish.com ought to introduce special victim groups, safe spaces and a rigorous adherence to Special Snowflake victim mentality ?
