The title says it all really! Anyone got any helpful tips for getting was out of cotton ropes, without destroying the rope? I'm loathed to put them through the washing machine as the wax will clog the filter...

Have you tried placing a tea towel over the top and going over it with a hot iron ?

Brown paper also absorbs wax with an iron

consider the rope to now be damaged.  it would be difficult to no for sure.  Only use it for safer ground ties, no suspension or anything that relies on friction.

You can wash cotton rope in a washing machine. But put the rope in an old pillow case first and tie it shut . That way the wax doesn’t clog filters and the rope doesn’t wreck your machine. Also don’t wash cotton rope at too high a temperature as it’s prone to shrinking .... sorry, just realised you posted this in December Jack !!! 🙄🔫
