Age Play

For kinksters who like to role play

Age play is increasingly popular in kink circles, and comes in many different forms. The best known is, paradoxically, probably also the rarest; while adult babies and people heavily invested in diaper play certainly do exist and have valid and varied sexual expression, roleplaying a generally childlike demeanour with an authoritative figure is far more common. 'Ageplay' is an umbrella term and it covers a wide variety of kinks and identities; anything that involves roleplaying an age difference between two partners comes under it, including dynamics where one person acts in a cutesy or youthful way without embodying any one specific age.

What is age play?

When someone pretends to be a different age to their own, this can be younger or older, for fun, relaxation or sexual pleasure. It usually involves two or more people consensually playing agreed ages and can cover lots of different roles such as teacher and pupil.

Is age play the same as DDLG?

Age play is the larger genre that Dominant Daddy Little Girl (DDLG) is part of. It covers all kinds of scenarios with different ages and roles. So you could have a Uni student with an older lecturer for example.

Do you need costumes and special equipment for age play?

All you really need is a little imagination. You can dress up smart to be a teacher, put your hair in pigtails or spike it up to look younger but of course you can buy costumes too if you want. There are specialist suppliers of clothing, diapers and pacifiers etc for those age players who enjoy pretending to be much younger than they are.

Why try age play?

We all enjoyed playing pretend in our younger years, age play is doing the same thing as an adult. It gives opportunity to play a role and be someone else for a while, leaving the worries of real life behind. The focus for the responsible role and the cared for role is the same, it’s on each other. Real life worries and concerns are left behind.

Sexual role play is a staple of pornography, but all kinds of folks love it out here in the real world too. Plenty of people find that certain things are sexier in imagination than they are in reality; non-consent fantasies are a classic example of this. Other role play ideas are fantasies involving certain stereotyped roles (police officers, schoolgirls, hot mysterious strangers). With role playing games, or RPG, you can explore these things in safety and in comfort, alongside someone who in reality you already know and trust.
Role play comes in many forms, and medical fetishes have long been a common part of the kink community. There's just something about the idea of being examined that appeals to people, not least because there's an inherent imbalance of power in such a situation that absolutely lends itself to a huge number of kinks and fetishes. Medical fetishes in general terms are actually very common, particularly ones that focus on the kind of anachronistic medical gear that was used to control patients much as bondage is used to control partners! Make sure you know what you're doing with the kit you play with, though, especially if it's sharp or could cause actual harm - some things are best left to real doctors, after all!
AB/DL stands for 'adult baby/diaper lover', and is distinct from other age play fetishes like daddy dom/little girl in several ways. While people who identify as littles often feel as though their 'little self' is an integral part of them, adult babies tend to have a clearer sense of engaging in a role play scenario. Diaper fetishes can also exist in isolation from baby play, and some find it difficult to achieve sexual satisfaction unless a diaper is involved, for example through diaper bondage. Baby play specifically addresses the natural need of all people to feel loved, protected and cared for - as well as giving its participants the chance to cut loose, relax and give up all their responsibilities for the length of a scene.
