Cage play questions

Something that I've always been fascinated by is cage play, but have always wondered how other people incorporate it into their lifestyle? So, do you generally keep your sub in a cage each night? Or is it something you use for a short period of time as a punishment? The way I see it as is something of a longer term thing, so being kept in it at night time, almost like a set space for me to go into and somewhere which is obviously a place of punishment, but at the same time, a safe space, if that makese sense?

My domina had me wear one at night, it works with gradual training, but it does take quite some time to build up to.

Caging is something difficult to get right - and a lot is peddled from fantasy or bad practice

A lot also ultimately comes down to the size of the cage - like, some underbed cages are fairly spacious, just locked at the bottom, whereas even an XL dog cage isn't meant for long term use.

The whole "live in a cage each night" is pretty much fantasy - for multiple reasons raging from everything from needing the toilet overnight, to the affect it has on body and muscles, rest and recovery.   That's not to say that prolonged confinement isn't a thing, however it tends to be bursts for fantasy purposes rather than frequent.

My last kitten loved her cage. It was a safe space. She'd just curl up in there. If she acted up, I could tell her to go take a nap/time out in her cage

Yeah that's the mindset I have with it as well, its a very obvious symbolic object isnt it?
