A Question for Doms - Dom Spaces

[De****]

I was recently talking to my Dom about distinct subspaces. I explained that, for me, my sub spaces each felt distinct depending on the play type. For example primal - prey space is very different for me than bunny (pet) space or little space. He said, for him, they felt the same, regardless of the play. My question for Doms is, do you feel distinct headspace depending on the type of play ?

So for me the way I got to understand it was that subspace is a distinct thing (usually from *** pleasure interface)… where adrenaline etc create an almost euphoric state…

That said a lot of people use subspace to mean a headspace you get into… and that very much can have different connotations and associations.

definitely distinct, it’s almost like another entering another consciousness.

Personally for me there is a distinct difference but also there isn't since the behavior on the Dom part changes very little. So both aspects are valid and right in respect to each pov.

But to answer the actual question… no I don’t, for me it’s not something that switches on or off… it’s always there but not necessarily played upon. In the same way I might feel more or less free to express any other aspect of my self depending on who is around.

My impact Dom space is very zen and serene, and usually light hearted. My CNC/rough play Dom space couldn’t be more different. Raw, primal and full of disdain.

[Ji****]

Definitely. And heart space. Depends on the sub, and what we are exploring for sure

[Pr****]

ABSOLUTELY. Doms need after care too

[pe****]

For me, it depends on the intensity and also the need to care for my submissive. It really varies

[Pl****]

I definitely have a different feeling depending on the intensity level or type of scene we have. I venture into CNC and that headspace is far different than my normal BDSM space. Sometimes she wants Daddy, sometimes she wants master, or handler, it’s a very different rush for me, but exciting and taxing in different ways, especially on the come down for me.

For me the only one that is a distinctly different headspace is during CNC. It’s a much darker headspace

Definitely, but it isn't as intense for me as it seems to be for subs? To create an analogy, if a subspace is like wearing a totally different costume, for me my "domspace" is more like wearing a mask. The rest of me is still the same guy, but I just act somewhat differently outwardly.

I like that analogy

Absolutely there are for me. When I'm just being a Dom it's vastly different then if I am Master..I warn subbies to not like a beat they won't be able to handle. And other spaces like caregiver space.. or if I'm on a sadistic kick.. they have to be separated or someone would get hurt in some way.

*poke a bear. God damn autocorrect

I think this is partly because so many kinky people are neurodivergent, so using clearly explained analogies helps out a lot of the time. It could be worth discussing that with your dom, asking him if he wears different "masks" even if his core motivation during play is the same. It's entirely a matter of perspective and presentation at that point.

I couldn't disagree more with his sentiment. A lot of the spaces are similar but some are wildly different. My limits if left to their own devices can be pretty brutal, but a lot of subs either cant handle it or arent interested in the level of intensity im capable of. If nothing else being mindful of restraining myself as to not get carried away and crossing boundaries creates a variety of different headspaces. My mantra is "im here to hurt you, not to harm you" and that line varies from sub to sub and that feels different. And thats just the one example lol

For me, they are very different, both in different spaces with one sub (sometimes one sub is little, and sometimes she is not, for example), and with different subs.

[Ju****]

It depends on who I'm with and what I'm doing. As I'm a switch, I wouldn't say I can really compare it to subspace, cause my awareness is definitely turned outwards and fully focused on the person I'm around.
However I definitely notice a difference when I'm feeling more sadistic vs when I just want to create a warm fuzzy feeling

Denver kitten you are gorgeous

[Daddybrains]

For me it's mostly hyper-focus, and exhilaration. It doesn't feel different depending on the type of play.
