ph**** Posted June 25 I've been trying to germinate lavender seeds in my apartment and I just can't get them to sprout. I have them on a wet paper towel in a sunny window but no sprouts. Any suggestions?
zu**** Posted June 25 I think you need to cold cycle them first. I’m not an expert but maybe you could google or YouTube it.
No**** Posted June 25 Put the seeds in a folded damp paper towel. Put the paper towel in a zip lock bag and place that in the fridge for 3-4 weeks. Then, just pull them out and plant as normal. Your basically tricking the seeds into believing it made it through the winter and triggers the seeds to sprout. It's a serious time investment, but I promise it is worth the wait to prep them in the fridge first. Good luck!
sm**** Posted June 25 Like cherry pips, put them with a little soil in a small bag and let them do a full climate cycle. Without a prolonged cold spell they won't be primed to germinate. In the UK I'd either leave them in a cold frame or the like, so they are protected from prolonged rain.
