1 point instead of 5 for likes. Bug or new feature?

2 weeks ago, I noted here the downgrade from 5 to 1 point per image like.
I got a reply through the penalty system. Odd choice. It said be patient until we find out if it's a bug or a feature.
... Well?? Which is it?
(I'm not even gonna ask the how and why you can't tell the difference)

Thanks for following up. We’ve now been able to clarify the situation:

The change from 5 to 1 point per image like is not a bug – it’s a feature. This was a product-level decision.
We understand this may raise questions, but we kindly ask you to accept it as a business decision.

In parallel, other changes have been introduced to give you more – and more frequent – opportunities to earn Community Points. For example, this year already features more frequent Treasure Hunts.
