Pockets in human clothes

Recommended Posts

I was chatting to a lovely lady on here who as transitioned from male to female.

I asked what's the 1 thing you dont like about female clothes. She said lack of pockets.  I said I totally understand.  I  uy male cargo pants as female 1s have alot of pretend pockets.

We both think the reason female clothes have less pockets is because females use hand bags.

Although not every female like handbags.  I find them not practical.  You only have 1 hand spare .

Some of these handbags  are so expensive its unreal. Although there are some  backpacks that can be so expensive.

I ues backpacks . You can get some amazing back packs and both hands can be empty.

What are poples views on pockets and bags ect.

Females use hand bags not because they like them but because of industrial propaganda that made tiny pockets in their clothes so they can sell tons of hand bags to half the population

Handbags were used way before pockets were put in women's clothes.  Handbags become extremely popular in the 1920s.

There is actually historical reasons as to why this is the case - not something I’ve looking into fully but this is from Google:

The Problem with Women's Pockets

Symbolism: Historically, pockets symbolized freedom and power, so removing them from women's garments limited their independence and rein***d the idea that women should rely on others for carrying items.
Inequality: Surveys show women's pockets are often smaller, shallower, or fake ("illusion pockets"), while men's are generally deep enough for phones and wallets, a disparity known as "pocket inequality".
Design vs. Function: This stems from an old notion that men's clothes are for utility and women's for aesthetics, a concept still seen in modern fashion.

Ty so much for the reply I fount it really interesting

I personally don't care about pockets anymore since I've transitioned, I've been carrying a purse ,so not really any need for them to be honest but I did also notice that since transitioning that feminine clothing doesn't usually have pockets unless it's denim

Even if Women's clothes have pockets they are not used cuz Women want to avoid bulges

Actually I always  use my pockets. So do of my  lots freinds. We ues backpacks for things that we can not get in our pockets.

Obviously they go on our backs so we have both hands free.

I also have a place on my walker I can put things

I guess I do put my phone in my back pocket, now that I think about it for a second. I just remembered getting my first few outfits put together after starting my transition and I'm thinking to myself, why does feminine clothing have no pockets? Then I thought well ,most women carry some sort of handbag/ purse so I guess there's not really a huge need for pockets, but one thing I noticed is like someone said earlier, pockets in feminine clothing doesn't have very large pockets, they're actually very small, often times not even a real Pocket or it's in a place that a Pocket doesn't really function well like gap tshirts that have a pocket on the chest,it's very tiny and only big enough to fit a quarter.

I agree. But things are changing not everyone likes handbags. When my partner and I go out I just put my bank cards in his wallet an leave my keys at his an get my keys from his after so I can go home.

Although if im with my mom my stuff  goes in her handbag.

Did you ever sit on your phone when its in your back pocket

Have you ever treated yourself to a expensive handbag ad a transition gift
