I may not be the most romantic guy on the plant, but I recognise the importance that many people put on acknowledging each other on this particular day.

So how are you going to do it in a lockdown world?

Also, whilst it should not be just about giving gifts, to those who do, how you managing that this year (this is oy the second year in 25+ years that I'm not getting anyone a sensual gift 😔) ?

in the ultimate rock n roll - Tesco have special Valentines set meals - but, my wife is vegetarian and I'm not - so, we've ordered two and are going to mix things up.   So, effectively we're going to have two meals in haha

Every day is Valentine's Day for me!

Gifts brought for me, baths run, drinks and food made for me.

Kisses, statements of love, hugs, mind altering states of sensual, sexual bliss....

So, this year no special celebration on one day, I celebrate it every day 😍

@FenSWitches  friggin in the rigging....?

🤔

Fail to see the point of Valentine's day. Why do people need a designated day to spread love? Shouldn't we all be doing it every day?

Thoughtful, personal gifts mean more to me than anything bought...

A bath filled with kettles, lit by candles, calor gas heater warming the room, soft towel ready.

Hours on end of learning my body with your tongue and fingers.

Feeding me jelly babies from various places.

Gentle nuzzles and wild kisses.....

Stroking my hair when I'm sick..

The way you look at me, every day 🐥🐺🙏

@Bounty The earliest roots of Valentine’s Day that I've found is the Pagan holiday Lupercalia...actually pretty appropriate for some kinksters.. ish anyway....Men would strip naked and sacrifice a goat and dog..young boys would then take strips of hide from the sacrificed ***s and use it to whip young women, to make them more fertile..these days it's a excuse to sell cards, flowers, and other gifts its like most other "holidays" commercialised to death, perhaps the flowers and gifts promote fertility as its one of the few days most vanilla guys are likely to get laid?

To me though, it's yet another day when your loneliness is heightened, I don't resent A/anyones happiness, but no matter where you look my wonderful partner this, my fabulous fella that, my brilliant Sir/Mistress the other..kinda rubs salt in the wounds more than any other day, especially when because of pandemics and lockdowns you've forgotten what human touch actually feels like as I have..

Sending you love Jax 🙏

I know, and appreciate, how blessed I am.

Earlier lockdowns were harder when I only saw Pirate a few times.

Thank you @Bounty I hope you know I wasn't having a dig at you or Bald, I've said many times how lovely it is to see you both connecting so well and I've meant it, don't mind me and my grumpy lonely, it is what it is and it will pass, like Christmas, Valentine's seems to get earlier and more commercialised each year and drag on and on..sprinking salt in its wake.

Not to mention the three men called valentine, killed at different times and became martyrs, in likelihood the term came from one who whilst in prison befriended the gaolers daughter and signed a message to her with from your valentine, certainly no romance, whilst now pretty much harmless is there really a need for a "special day" to show how you feel, Bah, Humbug I say 🤪

I see myself as a romantic man...  maybe i am wrong... lol....     But i have never celebrated Valentine's day....   I have read that it all started as a catholic tradition....   and i am not catholic...   :-)      Personally i dont like the form it has today....  it is all about a lot of companies and people who want to sell flowers and other products...      Here in Denmark the 14th of February isn't anything special (yet).......     but i have the feeling that in other parts of the world it is very big...  like in the USA.....        I agree with others here...   i dont need one special day to show love and affection....  i want every day to be filled with love  :-)        So lockdown or no lockdaown the 14th is just like all the other days for me......       :-)  :-)

VDay is important, if only because there are millions of vanilla couples who only remember to shag one a year when Hallmark reminds them about this thing called romance ;)

Something I feel is curious

There's a lot of people when dating will make an effort; take out their prospective partner somewhere nice.  a small gift (i.e. turn up to said date with flowers or chocolate or whatever) or maybe make an effort to cook a nice meal.

And then; this person becomes a partner.  And, in many cases a lot of that stops.

I think it's easy to be dismissive - but there's some folk this kinda reminds that, well, going on dates is fun.  Buying your partner gifts is nice.  And, especially in lockdown - breaking up the risk of every day being the same by doing something different.

I mean, different folks for different couples - but I dunno

We don't normally do something, but this year it's got us thinking about making something different/nice to eat
