You should never apply numbing cream before penetration. *** is a signal that something is wrong, and by numbing it you are risking serious *** because you cannot stop if it's genuinely hurting you.

Not sure about actual remedies but physical practice (masturbation w toys not w hands) and being actually into your partner, and allowing yourself to endulge freely in your fantasies without shame - has done a lot of progress for me personally

Lube…*** is usually caused by dryness. Plenty of water based lubricant should be used.

I don’t recommend numbing cream, as you’re just ignoring damage being done, which leads to longer term *** and also potentially long term damage to the vaginal canal. Lube lube lube, foreplay, paying attention to what causes it to hurt them most. These are all things that can make sex more enjoyable and more humane.

Have her go to a gyno/menopause specialist. It depends on the problem. Is it menopause…hormones and especially vaginal estrogen cream can work, radio frequency treatments works, DHEA and testosterone vaginal suppositories work. Is it vaginosis? Could be a couple other things. Could be pelvic floor too tight. In this case good pelvic floor therapist will solve. She need pro help.
