Inviting Divinity

You light candles and incense in a circle
With a little prepared offering, some fruit to gush from my lips and taste on my tongue

Kneeling, praying

Sacrament pressed into your tongue, lips gently trying to kiss my fingers as I retrieve my hand to my side

I wash your hands

You anoint me in oil

I tie you into a bow, and you salute me up and down with a compliment or a request each up, until your core begs for the ground

Dancing in a circle

Hymns, perhaps Sapphos poetry

Or perhaps I'm the parishioner and you're the god

I take great enjoyment in showing my partner that she deserves and will always, be treated as divine while in my presence…..but I, like her, have difficulty with accepting such praise and devotion unilaterally

I’m much more comfortable pleasing than being pleased….any advice for how to make a giver comfortable becoming the recipient of such attention?

What does she think the disconnect is? Does she not think she "deserves" it? Is there some sort of shame? Does she just not like the actual things being done? In addition to the basics of drinking water and eating food and tying up loose ends of relationship questions, untied creative and work projects, There are grounding and presence exercises, I like the somatic practices coming from the term "Kundalini" on YouTube. Sometimes people just prefer to give certain acts and it doesn't need to be fixed. There's also the option of having her describe what she believes would earn this behavior then helping her achieve those things. I find that if someone is showing up in the world of affection in total presence and acceptance and that doesn't match how they show up in different aspects of the relationship and for themselves and the other things they care about, the affection can just be agitating since I've no desire to be a cigarette.
