Rope arrives today

My first batch of flax in 15 years arrives today. Debating between dry processing or wet. I have done the washer method before and it worked, but I am considering dry because I lack drying space. Boiling isn't practical or really necessary with flax.
Do you consider processing new rope fun or a ***?

I'm also a fan of the washer method. Try hanging the rope by your A/C intake in your house. Gently d*** them in long loops on the door.

I feel like processing and caring for rope is a bit ritualistic 🤷. As a witch I really enjoy rope/knot magic and have carried over a similar spiritual "reverance" for processing and caring for kink ropes.

It came and it's fairly soft already. It's not supposed to have anything bad in it just linseed oil and other plant oils. They kind of stink, somewhere between wet hay and horse apples. Wash and dry and stretch are probably necessary, as is burning off the fuzzy s. It probably too soft to be used as nasty unfinished rope for a sadist. It's better to go with the softness. It's better than my last batch years ago and even that got good after a couple washes

I impulse bought not the cheapest rope, but it's still cheaper than fancy processors. It may not be as perfect as monk rope but the process makes it mine. Hopefully I can use it with a partner and make it ours.

Made 4 30' lengths and 1 26' because I found a bad spot. I'm going to keep going and hopefully wash and hang them later this week. My cat has decided to interfere a bit, so that might go a bit slower.

Three weeks ago, I bought a spool of flax rope. This week I got everything together to start. I cut rope starting last weekend, plugged at it through Wednesday, and washed, dried and hung it Thursday. It's hung on my patio, nobody has been brave enough to ask. I would just lie and say it was for macrame. I am burning and oiling rope today, maybe too soon but I have family over tomorrow. If I don't get everything done I will have to put the unfinished stuff away to work on later. Whipping is also for later but by bit ... This is more rope and more work than I thought it would be. I'm not even sure who or what gender identity I'm trying up yet. I was real happy when I got the spool, I thought it would be easy. It is not, but it is my task, my ritual and I have to see it through. Edit: I had to put 5 ropes aside because I ran out of time and fuel. Shoulda got the big can.
