Extra thrashings per minute over a certain time is one I’ve used to good effect over the years.
I had one sub in particular who was later for everything. Literally everything in her life.

That changed over time.
I also escalated the implement. We went from hand to belt to paddle to flogger to tawse to cane -and yes it took all of those.
The rule was if she went 48+ minutes over time, we then upgraded the implement.
