Why Submit?

I find the psychological side of D/s more interesting than the labels.

Why does someone choose to surrender control to one particular person? What separates genuine submission from simply following instructions?

For me, the answer comes down to trust, choice, and the connection between two people.

What does submission mean to you beyond the obvious roles?

Genuine submission is the NEED to follow instructions. It’s feeling uncomfortable with making decisions and having control over one’s life.

I find it relaxing. I don’t have to make decisions, it’s calming.

trusting someone enough to simply give in, and allow them full control. it really can be calming, depending on the scenario anyway

For me, submission goes much deeper than simply following instructions. I think for many of us, there can be a deeper psychological layer to kink. Some people come into these spaces carrying experiences where control, safety, or choice were taken away from them in some capacity. There’s something incredibly powerful about reclaiming that control and then choosing when, how, and with whom you surrender it. And that requires an understanding that goes beyond “I like this sexually.” It’s trusting someone to understand why certain things affect you the way they do, why something outside of the social norm can make you feel safe, liberated, ***, or even healing and trusting them to understand the responsibility that comes with being given those parts of you. That’s what separates submission from regular relationships……DEEP trust, understanding, vulnerability, and choice.

Well said. I think that’s the part people sometimes overlook, submission isn’t simply giving someone control, it’s choosing to trust them with it. The vulnerability and understanding behind that choice are what make a D/s dynamic meaningful to me.

For me its about giving up my power. In my everyday life I have to be tough and in control all the time. Subbing lets me give up my power.

I can understand that. Sometimes submission isn’t about wanting less power, it’s about finally having a space where you don’t have to carry it. Being able to let go, trust someone else, and simply exist without being in control can be incredibly freeing

This says it so perfectly. The idea of that safety to say I don't have to be in control anymore is the biggest value submission holds.

Once you give up control and get ***d to squirt without having to do anything you’ll never want anything else

It’s pure freedom to submit. It’s as simple and as complicated as that

I agree. I’m controlling everything in my life including my job. To submit myself to my daddy dom and don’t have to controlled anything makes me forget everything else(all the problem you can have in your life, etc), feel safe and be able to completely enjoy the moment. Having limits and rules, it’s something that probably missed in my day-to-day life and it makes me feel safe in this kind of relationship. I realized that vanilla sex won’t answer to my needs. I need to be dominated for enjoy sex.

I hate making decisions and it’s so liberating/hot to have somebody do it for you, and I love being the cause of pleasure for somebody

It’s freedom to me but I give him my full surrender because he earned it and yes trust is where it all matters imo .
