Perhaps tonight, the silence will break,
A little mercy is all that I ask.
A message to find me, a chance to partake,
A voice through the dark, a face through the glass.

Perhaps tonight, someone will think
To reach for my name in the depths of their mind.
Perhaps I will stand at the edge of the brink
Of another lonely night, and leave it behind.

I do not ask for promises,
Nor declarations beneath the moon.
Just a few words, a little tenderness,
A reason to feel less alone in my room.

Perhaps tonight, my phone will light,
And for once, I will not be the one to pursue.
Perhaps someone else will cross the divide,
And offer a moment of I thought of you.

For God, how the hours grow heavy and long,
When there is so much inside with nowhere to go.
So many thoughts that could turn into songs,
So much of myself that I'd like someone to know.

Perhaps tonight, someone will stay,
Long enough that the loneliness loosens its hold.
Perhaps someone will ask about my day,
And listen to stories I've never quite told.

And if no one comes, if the screen remains bare,
If the midnight passes without a reply,
I'll still be here, with my thoughts and my prayers,
Watching the minutes go drifting by.

But perhaps is a word I am willing to keep,
A small, stubborn hope that refuses to die.
That somewhere, someone is losing sleep,
And wondering about me beneath the same sky.

Thank you! You said what ive been longing to say out loud!
