The Boyfriend Was Smiling

Prague. I was supposed to be going back to Italy. Hotel booked, flight arranged, everything ready. I knew I shouldn’t go out that night.

Naturally, I went out.

That’s how I met her. Twenty-six, a goddess with ebony skin and a smile that looked like trouble. We started drinking and got absolutely fucking wasted. She was as crazy as I was, and together we were a terrible idea neither of us wanted to stop.

We ended up fucking in my hotel room. Hours disappeared between alcohol, laughter, and tangled sheets. I lost track of time so completely that I missed my flight.

Checkout was waiting for me that morning. My next flight wasn’t for another eight hours, and I had nowhere to go. She offered me her place.

We walked through Prague kissing like two people who had known each other forever and had absolutely no intention of behaving themselves.

Then we arrived.

She opened the door, turned to me, and said, almost casually:

“Now I’ll introduce you to my man.”

I froze for half a second. Excited, embarrassed, confused as hell. Her boyfriend was there, looking at me like I was an old friend who’d finally shown up.

And she didn’t seem remotely worried.

The atmosphere shifted slowly. She started undressing, teasing me, kissing me while he watched. He was so calm it was almost surreal, as if this were just another ordinary afternoon between friends.

Then she took my jeans off and went down on me.

I was genuinely shocked. I looked straight into his eyes while she took me into her mouth. He didn’t look away. He began touching himself, watching us with an expression I couldn’t quite understand.

Then he said it.

“Fuck her.”

Something in my head went quiet.

All those conflicting feelings — embarrassment, excitement, disbelief — collapsed into the moment. I pulled her close and we lost ourselves in each other, hard and hungry, but with a tenderness that had nothing to do with the madness of the night before.

He watched, stroking himself, while I made love to his woman.

And I kept thinking about that smile.

Maybe the real problem was me, carrying around taboos I’d never questioned. Beneath the desire and the madness, there was tenderness, trust, and something that felt surprisingly close to love. Maybe even a deep kind of love I hadn’t learned to recognize.

That night, I went looking for trouble and ended up questioning everything I thought I knew about intimacy.
