To the Men Out There: Win Yourself Back First.
It’s Sunday. Let’s go somewhere deeper. Somewhere many men have been taught not to go.
I’m a man who has been separated for two years. I have my storms, my regrets, and moments when the weight of my past catches up with me. I go to therapy. I confront uncomfortable truths. I ask myself questions I once avoided, knowing the answers may not be what I want to hear. But growth demands honesty, especially when it hurts.
Gentlemen, take responsibility. Be accountable. Be respectful. Not just toward women, but toward yourselves.
Too many men leave broken relationships determined to win someone back. But what if the person you need to find again is yourself?
Somewhere along the journey, we lose pieces of who we are. We become consumed with providing, surviving, maintaining control, or appearing strong. We stop communicating. We listen to respond rather than understand. Affection becomes an afterthought. Emotional connection fades, and physical intimacy loses the tenderness that once made it meaningful. Sometimes we neglect the person beside us. Other times, we abandon ourselves trying to hold everything together.
Accountability begins when you stop defending your intentions and start examining your impact. Where did you fail to show up? What did you withhold? What damage did your silence cause? What patterns did you excuse because they were familiar? Being hurt doesn’t justify hurting others. Anger doesn’t excuse disrespect. And dominance without empathy, trust, and consent is simply control.
Then comes the part many of us avoid.
Grief.
Not just for the relationship, but for the future you imagined, the years that passed, and the man you became while trying to survive it all. There are emotions buried so deeply that we mistake their absence for strength.
And for God’s sake, gentlemen, cry. Just fucking cry.
Let yourself feel the disappointment, loneliness, guilt, and exhaustion you’ve carried in silence. There is no shame in vulnerability or in sitting across from a therapist and admitting, “I don’t know who I am anymore, but I want to understand.” Anyone who judges you for confronting your *** has no authority over your healing.
Learn to distinguish love from attachment, boundaries from emotional walls, and genuine strength from the need to control. Stop calling unhealthy behavior normal simply because you’ve lived with it for years. And understand that accountability is not a lifetime sentence of self-punishment.
You can acknowledge your mistakes without allowing them to define you. You can forgive yourself without demanding forgiveness from another. You can accept that a relationship has ended without turning its memories into a battlefield. Some chapters aren’t meant to be rewritten. They’re meant to teach us how to write the next one differently.
After two years, I’ve realized that the greatest victory isn’t convincing someone to love you again. It’s becoming someone you can genuinely respect.
A man who can communicate without defensiveness, show affection without expectation, admit when he’s wrong, and understand that emotional and physical intimacy are built through mutual trust, respect, and care.
I’m not standing here claiming to have figured everything out. I still have difficult days. Sometimes the storms return without warning. But I’ve stopped measuring my progress by what I’ve lost and started recognizing it in how I choose to live, respond, and treat others.
Healing isn’t about returning to the man you once were. It’s about discovering who you can become when you stop hiding from yourself.
So, gentlemen, this Sunday, ask yourselves something uncomfortable:
Are you fighting to recover a relationship, or are you avoiding the work of rebuilding the man who was in it?
Because the person you’ve spent so much time trying to save may be the one staring back at you in the mirror.
Win yourself back first. Not to prove someone wrong. Not to earn another chance. But because you owe yourself an honest, meaningful life.
And when love finds you again, let it meet a man who no longer needs someone else to make him whole, but who is capable of sharing himself fully, honestly, and without ***.
That’s not weakness. That’s growth. That’s accountability. And that’s where real strength begins.

I myself have learned that I can never again be the girl I once was (before all the *** and suffering) but I have learned to love the battle scared woman before me for having survived, learned life lessons, accepted the changes and most of all learned to love 💕 the new me …. I’m sure my journey will not end here … I might even make brand new mistakes 😁… but I’m certain I’ll learn from those as well.
