I leave my footprints in the sand

As I blindly cross this beautiful land

I sprinkle my words down in thoughts and prose

Of a life explored but never dozed

I walked this life, full of heart and sorrow

A life well lived, full of many tomorrows

I embrace each obstacle in my way

And rip the fabric far away

My tears stain the ground when I do cry

I hug my soul went it goes awry

When I move on out of this earthly plane

I wonder how I will be remembered for my name

Will I fade off into a memory of no more 

Or will my words live on in a beautiful score 

Because once you are gone and you’re no more

You may be a distant thought of time before

Many things often cross my mind

A time of reflection, a time that is entwined

A reminder that we all have so much to give

That our lives are here for us to live

Embrace the now with your heart

It’s never too late to make a start

Remember joy, for it is fun

Don’t wallow in self-pity, it will set you undone

Remember to love yourself for all its worth

It is your depth, it is your girth

Rally round those you love

Hold them tight with a hug

Life is short, as you know

Strive ahead and watch you grow

Leave many thoughtful steps behind

Of a life well lived, a life divine

They may not remember your actual name

But you were here, you once did reign......
