I'm very new, never done this. Is there anything such as a sub and dom switching back and forth on agreed upon times? Also, having a sub/dom relationship that's non-violent or degrading, but gentle and loving? Very curious...

yes - this is common - and threre's a lot of different ways switches work

and yeah - tender/loving D/s is also very much a thing

something to consider - floggers, whips, canes, ***, etc. these are all effectively forms of play rather than being core to a relationship

I happen to be a switch myself. What role I like generally depends on how I feel that day.
Not only that, I would say my kinks work to compliment my relationship rather than be the focal point :)

Yes, being a switch is a thing. I know couples who switch off each other and others that have different partners for it

Yes there is such a thing. But communication and trust both parts safety and both willing to switch full concent needed

Yes it's a thing, me and my "cough" ex fiance "cough" would play around like that, she knew that I'm morally incapable of hurting a woman unless she wants me to, aka sexually, so we'd be playing around and she'd suddenly act like I hurt her from something or other and I'd immediately back off and apologize and she would flip it around on me and switch up the roles
