Where do you find information?

When you are exploring a new practice or you are only curious, where do you search for information? Books? Movies? Porn? Ask someone? IA? Communities? Workshops? Blogs?

Definitely not movies or porn - both of which falsely represent stuff for the most part.

Places like here and FetLife will be an option, as will Google to at least get an initial idea - then there's the network of people I've built up through going to Munches who are an invaluable source of information, or knowing people who know people who know.

FetLife, but also local groups such as a local MasT chapter have been useful. Every community I've been a part of has had a local group that involves mentorship and fellowship around kink acts as well as M/s relationships in general. FetLife is where you find the local groups, but there's a lot of...invented experience on there as well if you only look at the online forums.

One of the major advantages in getting your face known and trusted in the local scene, mainly munches etc. A great friendship base is worth its weight in gold.  By asking and listening to these people, who probably have a larger framework of working knowledge and invaluable information.   On top of your own research through asking questions on sites like this, with a worldwide knowledge Base.
