Society has made them feel like there is a standard to beauty unfortunately.

do you know about the term “insta face”? most men prefer those insta models so is common for girls wanna look like that, but don’t want (or can’t) get the things they get done in there face so they stick with those fake filters

Ìam going to assume because thay don't understand thay look better with the filters. But Idk how to even use them 😆 but some do look cool like the devil horns

I dont have any confidence like at all not too 🤣🙈

Because they don’t know or think they have natural beauty.
Everyone is insecure about something

Cause most cant see there own buity

Because even though they are naturally beautiful, they don't feel it in themselves so they use filters to hide what they believe are their insecurities and they post the pictures with filters because what they believe are their flaws are no longer visible and it gives them confidence.

And they think there not good enough or pritty enough when they really have all they need with out the garbage filters hell even makeup
people seem to use it for anonymity, dishonesty, confidence

I don't mind filtered pictures as long as they also show you some real unfiltered ones.

For the same reason ppl dress up, or why ppl use makeup or been editing their pictures since 1800s.
Putting your best foot forward

Thanks to tv magazines and all the other junk saying u won't ever be pritty enough or smart enough
They are insecure and believe ppl won't want them for who they really are that they have to look a certain way to be noticed
Some people aren’t fond of their natural beauty and find filters cute and appealing to aid with that.

😬 I readily admit that I do in pictures, but believe it or not, I am completely comfortable going out in public or being around people with my hair in a messy bun and no makeup on.

I think for me, what it comes down to I allowed someone to make me feel self conscious about my appearance. Between that and adjusting to how I’ve changed over time with age and after having kids, I didn’t like seeing myself in pictures for over a decade.

While I’m genuinely content with how I look in person, I am and have always been a low maintenance kind of girl, so when I take a picture knowing other women my age regularly put a fair amount of effort into their appearance, it becomes too easy for me to fall into the trap of comparing myself. It took me a long time to realize how easy it to see other women as completion and I think that as we get older and mature, we become more confident in who we are as individuals and learn to appreciate other women for their own unique qualities.

Buuuuttt, I’m also a girl who knows that it’s far too easy for me to pick apart my appearance in pictures and and up in tears at a time when I should be enjoying the moment. I am content to throw a light filter on if it means I have more pictures of myself with my kids or my friends these days.

Idk. I’m weird 😂
Confidence is a mentality, and I guess I just make a conscious effort not to do anything that creates an opportunity to fuck with my head in that department 🤷🏻‍♀️
I don't get it either

Even worse... They're using AI filters now. I considered that lying to be honest.

Because the beauty standard is dumb!!!!

Hi, filters are used in photography for 200years so is your question focused on all kinds of filters or specific "beauty" ones ?
Th****
Because people are used to being judged and feeling never beautiful enough even when they are. Society only sees perfection as beautiful and imperfection is judged and seen as not good enough. Age and scars are seen as not beautiful when they are such pure beauty.

Many reasons - to enhance a picture, to remove background noise, to hide features, insecurity, to deceive and any number of others - you'd need to ask the individuals concerned for their own specific reasons
