FWB vs NSA?

Recommended Posts

What is the difference between “Friends with benefits” and “No strings attached”?
mi****
FWB = sex with a friend
NSA = sex with a stranger/acquaintance and no involvement beyond that
Eg****
FWB = don’t ghost because they’re fun NSA = ghost because once was enough 😜

No Strings Attached usually means a one time thing

NoLeashKitten
FWB-friends with benefits -there can be conversations, dinners, hangouts etc
NSA-No Strings Attached -we meet, we fuck, we don't talk except to schedule the next meet
MT****
One implies barely a need for a connection or continuation, just sex. The other shows a willingness to at least have a connection outside of sex, like food afterwards or talk/sharing life stories or even schedules, for examples.

NSA is likely a one time encounter while friends with benefits is someone you see regularly like friend but you f..k
FWB implies that the two participants are also friends. NSA is just sex with no friendship at all and no emotional connection. A booty call but on more than one occasion unlike a ONS.

One night stand vs continuous fucking.

NSA is usually a 1 time thing, and fwb you play multiple times, so become friends

Just now, TieNrideMe said:

But dont become attached

Friends with benefits usually have somewhat of a social life together outside of the bedroom whereas no strings attached don't typically associate with each other outside of the bedroom.

It means you can FUCKandFORGET....remember
you're not friends...........

NSA typically means just a sexual partner vs FWB implies an actual frienship with the added benefit of sex
li****
But some can fuck and remember their friend fondly.....no strings...........love ... But no strings. Remember... You two are friends ....(I prefer the latter)
ed****
Ones a friend and you can play. Ones a no strings attached lay

Friends with benefits means you have a set relationship and boundaries as friends outside of what you choose to do in the bedroom. You both know you care about each other as friends but either both parties are not interested in anything more or know nothing more can come of it. NSA means you both get mutual satisfaction of sex but what you do when you aren’t blowing my back out, ain’t none of my business. And what I do when you aren’t in me, ain’t none of yours. It’s meaningless no attachment sex , once it’s over we both go back to our business and only communicate unless it it’s predetermined for how long we are using each other for sex.

The first one, you're actually friends and do friend stuff (so, more than "just sex"), the second is a broader term that covers that and several other things, but people usually mean just f--- buddies where you only get together for sex then go your separate ways or ONS.
.
Most who claim to want FWB really don't actually want FWB, just want f-buddies or ONS.

From my experience it is the “f” part. Friends denotes a relationship that’s not sexual or kink but with the possibility of either or both when it suits both. NSA kinda means can walk away at any time where both knew that from the start with no hard feelings. I mean… in an ideal world… doesn’t mean that’s how it will work out. Also just my view… everyone will have their own interpretation.

IMO. FWB are friends - they have things in common and will do things together. NSA - they just do sex, no platonic stuff at all.

Though to be fair, at least in America, people don't seem to understand what friendship even is anymore, with everyone calling people their friends when in reality, they're just transactional acquaintance/activity partners. That's not friendship, so I understand why people are confused about FWB... because they don't understand what friendship actually is.

I feel like FWB implies more than just a series of ONS or NSA. It means there is a relationship outside of the bedroom. Hanging out, going on a date, maybe talk on the phone about a tough day. A friend, with the benefit of a sexual relationship.

@ladyrenee is 100% correct in her explanation. You fuck and leave, sometimes no words are even said to each other. Of course there are variations and each can have their own dynamic but in its simplest form it’s what she said

Friend with Benefits.  They are your friend.  You may, however, on some circumstances have sex, or play, together. Your relationship status is you are friends.  This therefore means either of you are free to otherwise seek out a relationship or sleep/play elsewhere - however, they are your friend and so decisions shouldn't hurt your friendship.  Having sex/play with someone and then dropping them like a hot potato when someone who can offer a relationship comes along isn't what friends do.

No Strings Attached - literally no expectancies other than meeting for play/sex - it could be a one night stand, or a series of one night stand.  There are no conditions other than you're both available.
