Practice on yourself to learn what you like! And have your rigger practice on themselves so they have an idea of what is comfortable/uncomfortable, and when to inflict each one
Safety first. Know your partner and set boundaries to ease your way in.
Find somebody that knows what they’re doing. Start with sensual deprivation and go from there
I would go slow start with something easy like the hands you can even practice on your own self knowing pressure points if you are letting someone else do the tieing start with something soft to get use to it and than work your way up to rope little by little

Start slow. Talk through expectations and have a safe word.
The best advice I can give you is make sure you have someone do it that has experience. Also make sure they have something near by they can use to cut the ropes in case something goes wrong
Make sure they're comfortable with the person tying them up and that they use safe words and to start slowly
Communication is key. In everything really. Just communicate the desire with your partner, making it clear that you’re a novice and tentative. Maybe they have rigging experience. Maybe they’ll get really into it and start learning more about it. This can be the first step into a much broader world for all involved
Look up different techniques. Start small, simple cuffs and ties. Work to the advanced stuff when you're more experienced, so you don't end up hurting joints by extending them past what you're used to.
See if you can find a ropes class near you. Go to an event. Go to a munch and meet kinksters in your area
Start with simple things like handcuffs, there are some that comes with soft inside so they won’t hurt you, there are also belts that goes around your neck and tied your arms behind your back, after you feel comfortable enough then you can move up with actual ropes
Research, thankfully there are all kinds of free resources online. Look for basic designs that you want to try or see yourself in. Don't come out of the gate trying to do the most complicated suspension design you can find. I'd recommend an experienced rigger, or even a beginner class at a local studio. While Shibari/Kinbaku is amazingly gorgeous to look at, and a super memorable experience, it can also be dangerous if your partner doesn't know what they're doing. Trust, communication, and safety are very important. You need to be comfortable enough to tell your partner if something is uncomfortable. Safety shears should be on-site. Self-tie tutorials are another way you can dip your toes in the water, see if it's a good fit. Stay hydrated. Have plenty of water to drink, especially after the ropes come off. Personally, I prefer to use treated Jute/hemp rope for both it's traditional look and it's ability to stay in place without needing to be extra tight. Hope something here is helpful.

May the rope be with you 🪢🐇
Find a local rope studio, you want someone with experience for rope play
Just try it and try it again ! Everyone have different prospective and feelings ! Just try it more then one time
Do plenty of research on rope safety and learn how to check for issues like numbing of the extremities, changes in skin color/temperature, etc. There are also guides on avoiding things like nerve damage. Make sure your rigger is aware of these as well.
Research, research, research. That’s for everything in the lifestyle. Do not dive into anything headfirst here.

👍

First, Spencer's or your nearest sex shop will have a basic guide to ropeplay.
Then, know the dangers of where and how tight.
It's easier with a friend that understands you and your experimenting to go easy but also not want more. You know someone patient. Some knots might take time.
Lastly, safe words or gestures and scissors or knives for just in case.
Read. Then, when ready, get 100 feet of laundry line (I prefer cotton), and practise tying yourself -- for knowledge, familiarity, for discovery, for own empowerment....
Then later add in play buddies.
Have fun exploring!
Watch your rigger/top, tie people several times and make your first few ties around other folk, trust no one off the bat. That becomes a you problem, not a community problem. Please be safe.
