Zip Ties

Anyone have tips or experience with zip ties. Definitely want to start incorporating them in play. Im so used to handcuffs or rope but ive found the cuffs get in the way sometimes and the rope is fun but sometimes too much work. I figured they wont break and wont be in the way as much

Not in a kink setting. Though I would recommend the same caution as 550 cord and wire. They can cut off circulation fast and completely by accident.

My preference now tbh. Get thicker plastic ones. One around each wrist with a little breathing room. Not too tight. And then they act as cuffs kind of, and you can simply join them to bind your submissive pretty much anywhere in any setting with a third zip tie to connect the two. The cool thing is, with a full pack, and a blade or pair of scissors, part of the fun is freeing them by cutting the middle zip tie and then being able to simply bind them anywhere else quickly.
They are a solid option too. There’s no getting out of them really until you decide to break the connection.
Plastic does the job, but for a harsher texture or darker session, steel ones can be used. They are perfect to be honest. Quick and very effective.

there are also reusable zip ties that have a releasing tab. but safety scissors are a must.

If you're going to do zip ties get the reusable ones, and make sure that that super big ones similar to zip tie cups that officers use

There are hidden risks with using zip ties.

As someone else has already commented, they cut off the circulation fast, but they can also tighten themselves inadvertently.

If they are overtight, it can be impossible to get a pair of scissors or a blade underneath to cut them -without cutting the skin.

I have seen very thin bladed cutting tools with a blunt rounded edge which could possibly slide underneath…. They are designed as ‘rescue’ tools, but in all honesty I would avoid - for reasons of safety.

Remember, not everything is designed for kink play.

And lawsuits can be expensive.

Dont use them. Get velcroed or buckling ankle and writ cuffs with snapshackles. They're superior in ease of use, especially in repositioning.
Zip-ties are dangerous due to the ease of tightening and no release mechanism. If you accidentally encounter this situation, do not panic. You usually can carefully slide one scissor under a zip-tie. Get it as far under as practical, and gently cut it. If its too tight, its best to seek professional help.

Always use them with others around unless you’re cautious. It’s possible when doing self bondage however as others have stated, it’s not recommended.
I use them and keep a pair of side cutters to hand but I never over tighten them or do them tight enough I lose mobility. Velcro is your safest option for wrist restraint. If you still want to experiment with cable ties, try on your ankles so you can always reach and cut them when needed
