Dominants

Respecting the decisions and choices of their Submissive. Being trustworthy, strict but also fair, good listener and having a leadership mentality. There are loads of others, can also depend on what type of dynamic the D/S are after.

I’d suggest anyone interested in becoming a serious and respected Dominant to give my profile a read 😉

In my opinion a Good Dom is a good listener and good at reading body language. Subs often are too shy or dont want to express their specific turn ons. Expressing the the Sub's wants and reading their pleasure without having to ask and break the "control" aspect is a huge part of it

Great question. Respect and consent to start with. The a heavy dose of Consistency, patience, kindness, fairness, and much more.

A Dom has a responsibility to the sub, to protect them. Good communication prior to play, respect boundaries, and great aftercare. Calm authority, not losing it when a brat acts out. Then the mental aspect. Guiding the sub in a direction you desire. Helping them to reach sub space, relax. And help both to enjoy the play time!

Dictating the pace. Not filling every gap with random activity for the sake of it. Creating anticipation and tension. A lot of Doms get rattled by an energetic or bratty sub and feel the need to keep up. You don't. You set the tempo, whether that means slowing things down and making them wait, or s***ding them up. The point is you're leading, not reacting

Also not being this:

"I'm a Dom Starter Pack"

- Show mild enthusiasm
- Never wear deodorant
- Administer exactly 2 spanks
- Randomly say the word "slut" with no context because that's Dom.
*Psychological depth sold separately*

😂😂 for real

you succeeded in being a good dom, if your sub feels save, special, able to communicate her needs and feeling, and dont take yourself too serious

What about inbetween scenes? ˙ᵕ˙ so when apart.

I dont think theres a short answer to this. Its a million and 1 things. Its about giving them what they need and want from the experience. Its about knowing which boundries are hard nos and knowing which you can gently nudge. Its about aftercare. A submissive needs to know they are valued and looked after and that often cant be conveyed outside of aftercare

Too often domination is used by men with little confidence to fake power and confidence. Submission is something for the submissive to gift us not something we take

🤭🤭🤭 made me giggle

Totally agree on good aftercare. That is so very important

Respect limits
Understanding
Secure
Knowledgable and knows what he is doing
Caring
Protecting
Supportive
Nurturing
Motivating
Loving

Awareness, imo. Knowing their limits, abilities, how to check in with you, how to effectively navigate the aftercare.

Constantly communicating. Emotional support. Reassurance. Care.

You have great questions! Good topic to air out.

Behavioral pattern recognition and learning the sub's pattern before play.

Feel like all the comments here are brill and on point. One thing I haven’t seen mentioned yet is patience. Every dynamic is unique and therefore building it shouldn’t be a one-size fits all solution. Communication is the key to everything.

Look up behavioral pattern recognition, it'll definitely do anyone wonders for framing emotions and all behaviors in this space. Let me know if you can find an answer more encompassing than that though.

What makes a good Dom or sub is up to the Dom or sub individually. To each their own. Now that being said, are there qualities or general outlines that can be a good starting point…sure there! Due to the different types of Doms and subs I don’t think you can just come here asking for what are the ideal qualities.

That is related to the dynamic more than the Dom. I have had subs that wanted me to be their daily life coach and subs that wanted to stay completely incommunicado. I guess that is another part of being a Dom, being aware of your sub’s needs and adjusting for them.

Good communication and a willingness to learn are the two big ones. Ego needs to be left at the door. Intuition and perception is a big one as well.
