Sapiosexuality! What does it mean to you?

"To seduce your synapses, we must bypass the physical completely and target the erotics of the mind, where deep insight, unexpected novelty, and intellectual vulnerability act as the ultimate neurochemical stimulants." Or so it is written by Helen Higgins

So sapiosexuality?
Discuss!

Is it a temporary or permanent bypass of the physical?

So this has always been something that has been hard for me to understand as a very sexual creature and also somebody that understands the chemicals of the brain

Our number one primal need is to reproduce a.k.a. have sex. That is why, when you look at somebody, especially men, your brain releases a chemical that attracts you to them instantaneously, which arouses your sexual desire, because our number one purpose on this Earth is to reproduce.

So I question people that say I can't even be sexually turned on unless I'm stimulated with the brain when that's not true, because you wouldn't even be speaking to that person. If your brain hadn't reached the chemicals that sexually turned you on , that made you speak to that person in the first place

The mind is absolutely the real turn-on — insight, novelty, intellectual vulnerability hit different. But I’m a firm believer that without at least some physical attraction, most people never get close enough to expose themselves or actually experience someone’s mind. The body is usually the door; the intellect is what keeps you inside.

Yea me and you baby ain't nothing but mammals so let's do it like they do on the discovery channel 😉😁

Is it our primary purpose? If it is, how come I get so many other things done? Why do I read books or run? Neither of them pass on my genes. I’ve always been more interested in the mind of someone. It is the enduring part.

I believe the term SAPIOSEXUAL has now been used far more broadly than its original definition.

Sapiosexual describes a person who experiences intellectual attraction as a primary component of sexual or romantic attraction.

For a sapiosexual, the mind is often the greatest aphrodisiac.

It is not necessarily physical appearance, age, body shape, or conventional attractiveness that sparks their interest. Rather, it is someone’s intelligence, eloquence, curiosity, depth of thought, knowledge, wit, and ability to engage in stimulating conversation.

A sapiosexual may be particularly attracted to someone who:

* Can hold an intelligent, thought-provoking conversation.
* Has intellectual curiosity and a genuine thirst for knowledge.
* Expresses themselves eloquently and confidently.
* Can challenge their thinking without being condescending.
* Possesses emotional intelligence and self-awareness.
* Has a wonderful sense of humour, quick wit, and a playful mind.
* Can explore ideas, debate perspectives, and appreciate different viewpoints.

There is an important distinction:

Being intelligent is not the same as being intellectually attractive. Someone may possess impressive academic qualifications but lack curiosity, depth, or the ability to engage another mind.

Perhaps the most seductive description of sapiosexuality is:

“Attraction begins when a mind captures my attention, conversation stimulates my curiosity, and intelligence awakens my desire. Physical chemistry may catch my eye, but intellectual chemistry is what makes me want to stay. For me, seduction begins long before the first touch. It begins with a thought, a word, a clever observation, or a conversation that makes me forget the time.”

Not everyone may see it as I do … but it’s another perspective you may consider.

People who say sapiosexual have a tendency to be insufferably impressed with themselves and how much they think they know. I put no stock in it. People who are genuinely intelligent, attractive, successful, etc don't need to announce it

I do realize a lot of our reactions a chemical but at the same time you have to realize where people and a certain needs that we want 0 I mean if we were to look at this as a survival tactic of course you're going to be more attracted to somebody smart capable it's a survival instinct we're not just chemicals you have feelings you have emotion we have needs it's almost like a case of nurture or nature yeah we're hardwired define someone who's going to have good babies with us quote unquote but at the same time for enough of an individual we want somebody who makes us feel safe who makes us feel loved and protected and warm and someone we could trust and that's also a case of survival because we know that person give us an edge over anything traumatic the way you're saying it it kind of makes me think you're saying we're just bodies but we're thinking we're not just instincts

@@ a nbsp;gentleman always does

I need you to use logic when you're asking me questions. Thats like saying Eating isn't a primal need because i'm also able to read and watch t v and do other things 🙄

So if you actually wanna engage in a Intellectual adult conversation with me, I'm gonna need to make sure that you are mentally Capable & Have the bare minimum level of Intelligence Required to engage in this conversation.

So let's start off with what primal needs are.

Primal needs are things that the body requires !!!! Sex food sleep water air!!! Those are your primal needs !!!

The reason they are your primal needs is because when your body is lacking these things UR BRAIN RELEASES CHEMICALS TO TRIGGER YOUR BODY TO LET YOU KNOW YOU NEED THEM!!!

When you're Body needs rest.It starts to shut down and releases chemicals that make you sleepy And you start to yawn and your eyes get heavy and there are effects on your body that let you know you need sleep

When your body needs fuel , it releases chemicals that makes you hungry Your stomach growls in ***, which is an effect to let your body know It needs food

When your body needs hydration , it releases chemicals , which makes your mouth dry or you thirsty , which lets your body know u need hydration

Air... I'm going to assume you know, the body needs air and not have to break down. How the body shows you you need air

SEX!!!! IS EVERY LIVING CREATURES #1 PRIMAL NEED BECAUSE WITHOUT REPRODUCTION THAT SPECIES DIES!!!

And we know it's primal , because when the body needs sex , your brain releases chemicals that make you horny and crave sex

SO YES MY LOVE🙄 You can read, run, cook laugh Enjoy life like all of us do, but that does not change that you're #1 PRIMAL NEEDD IS SEX!!! Because without reproduction, our species will die. Everything has to reproduce. That is why it is your number one Primal need... Biochemically , you are wired to make a split second decision between I would have sex with that and I would not have sex with that ITS CALLLED ATTRATION ...

You look at A woman and either your brain automatically releases chemicals that makes you SEXUALLY ATTRACTED to her or not !!!!

we all do it because we are humans and our number one primal need is to have sex so we can reproduce

And even for you , people that say you can only be turned on mentally , that's not true , because you wouldn't even be speaking to that person in the first place if your brain wouldn't have released the chemicals that PHYSICALLY SEXUALLY ATTRACTED you to that person!!!!!

.. It's okay if you find other qualities more sexually attractive, but can we stop lying and saying I can't even get sexually attracted unless Only stimulated by intelligence ... Because if that was the case you would be walking up to unattractive , smart people and asking them out on dates , and i've yet to see that happen

Maybe Over time , after getting to know her , you were attracted to her.... But that does not mean that you are not sexually attracted by physical qualities Because you're human and we are visual creatures and we are wired to be physically sexually attracted to things that physically sexually attract us.

This has been my Ted talk thank you for coming 🤗

Everybody has a preference, but in all dexterity Sapio sexual is a choice and not a definitive factor. People become less intrigued with only the physical from their experience and want more to say as a preference to stimulate what has not been stimulated enough the mind perception. Also people claim Sapio sexual to avoid breaking their own boundaries in who is allowed to come into their own space.

If you can't stimulate me mentally, you have no chance anywhere else!

It's an overcomplicated way of saying your bi. There's straight, gay and bi..everything else is overcomplicated made up nonsense. With 2 genders comes 3 sexualities. It's pretty simple

I am a sapiosexual, and so yes I may see someone and find attractive features, but for me it is more than the physical attraction. I need to make an emotional connection. I have had long distance relationships that have started without seeing the individual and found myself extremely sexually stimulated by the conversation. It is not a temporary thing, either. If the conversations are good and they show high emotional intelligence, than their physical features truly do not matter to me.

I’m not sure if I’m exactly Sapio or not . I’ve 💯 look at someone and noted attractive features and assets etc .
But that alone doesn’t necessarily create any form of sexual resonance. I like knowing I’m able to speak to someone, that there’s something more than just the physical?
I’ve also had strong attractions to ppl before, only for all sexual desires to just dissipate when conversation turn into whatever the opposite of stimulating is 😅.
So I definitely don’t think it’s a permanent bypass , but I also think that differs depending on the person in question

Dont shoot the messenger... I feel some people hide behind sapio and demi and use as construct when really they want bestie they can talk to... i understand not being dumb and being able to hold a conversation but some folks are hiding behind titles just because it's the social media norm.

1 question 🙃

When u swipe right on a pic ON THIS APP ..... DOSE THE FACT THAT U FIND THEM SEXUALLY ATTRACTIVE NOT PLAY A ROLE ? ... I'm not saying you don't read their bio.And you like the things they're saying i'm asking you

If you read a bio, that seems like the perfect guy for you YET HIS PHYSICAL APPEARANCE IS THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE OF WHAT YOU FIND ATTRACTIVE

ARE U SWIPING LEFT OR RIGHT 🙃

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I REST MY CASE

" YES. When you look at someone and feel a spark of attraction, your brain immediately initiates a coordinated neurochemical cascade involving reward, pleasure, and arousal centers."

AEGUE WITH SINCE NOT ME 🙃🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

WE ARE NOTHING MORE THEN A RELEASE OF CHEMICALS... U LIKE WHAT U LIKE BECAUSE WHEN U SAW IT SMELL OR TOUCHED TASED OR HEARD IT UR BRAIN RELEASED CHEMICALS THAT TRIGGERED UR PLEASURE AND MADE U LIKE IT

THE ONLY DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A SWIPE LEFT OR RIGHT IS F**BALE OR NOT F**BALE 🤣🤣🤣🤣

It just reminds me of a Tumbler civil war where the sapiosexuals were being called out for lack of disability awareness.

Reading what you wrote... my perspective is the prolonged after fact... the after you "like what you see"

In general i find it a bit pretentious and in the worst cases i’ve seen it’s paradoxically superficial and stupid
Kind of the same energy as a university student looking down on a “uneducated” apprentice who needs more years of study, experience and specialization to reach their goal
Being attracted to intelligence is fine but sorting strangers using your preconception of their intelligence just doesn’t work

Goodness @@adventureshawty nbsp;is that how you always respond to someone trying to debate something with you? I understand you disagree with me, but the ad hominem attack was completely unnecessary. You’ve mistaken being condescending for being correct. “The species needs reproduction” does not mean “every individual needs sex”, any more than society needing surgeons means everyone needs to perform surgery. Calling sex our number one need is particularly impressive, hold your breath for 5 minutes and then let’s discuss primal needs. “The brain releases chemicals” isn’t the scientific knockout you think it is; explaining how a desire happens doesn’t establish that satisfying it is essential. Then you announce that people wouldn’t even speak without sexual attraction, apparently forgetting colleagues, friendships and ordinary conversation exist. Your intelligence argument is equally confused: needing intellectual stimulation doesn’t mean fancying every intelligent person. Necessary does not mean sufficient. And “I’ve yet to see it happen” establishes the limits of your observations, not the limits of human experience. You demanded intellectual credentials before presenting an argument that repeatedly confuses desire with necessity, individuals with species, and your assumptions with evidence. The TED Talk needed less self-applause and more proofreading.
