Also, he is a person of color and so we have talked about our respective experiences with one another regarding race, as people getting to know each other.

Do you ever invert the power relationship? I ask because I haven't had submissive fantasies, only dominating ones. They're probably related to past racist trauma I've experienced. When I've met other Asian men online who also went through this, they seem to take in the submissive or cuck role.

@RelaxedTension - I do not invert the power relationship, but that’s a larger overarching tendency and not necessarily one related to race. When not engaged in D/s, I joke with my dom that I’m a “life dom,” having to keep track of a million details, making sure things happen correctly and on time, etc. So when I’m engaged in play, I hand over the reins of creative responsibility to him, where he takes on the role (Dante’s) Virgil so to speak and leads me through a journey. I think the race play for me is more incidental than a primary drive.

Hmmm that makes sense. I am definitely not a type A nor a life dom. I keep finding myself in caretaker roles, so that might be why I have been called a switch. After some reflection, I think I'm just trying to do replays of past experiences. They didn't feel racialized at the time, but in retrospect, they were.
