MENTAL HEALTH BENEFITS OF BDSM & KINK

Since I went to my first shibari workshop I can honesty say I've never felt calmer in the coming days. It was a real eye opener! I went as a rope bottom and paired up with a wonderful lady who had no interest in being tied so it worked well for me.

I'm pretty sure I walked out of that workshop literally glowing and even folks at work the following week commented how I seemed more refreshed and calm and ready to take on the absolute chaos bucket of a work project I'm dealing with.

When we find someone that not only wants to connect with us on a level of companionship and basic attraction, but also wants to explore our deepest desires and kinks, that is something on another level. The two connections hand in hand are a very powerful combination. To connect with a woman and gain her trust enough to submit her energy to yours, and also place her body and mind in your hands. And you know in your heart and mind that you’ll not *** that trust… it can give you an immense rush of positive energy and leave you feeling on cloud nine. And I think it may be stronger for the woman involved. That feeling of knowing she made the right choice to submit that precious energy to the right man. We are all looking for connection. It’s in our nature. So to find something as powerful as a dynamic built on trust that will not be tarnished, the mental health benefits of such a connection are simply endless and keep getting stronger the more the bond is solidified.

I basically use BDSM as a combo of stress management and fibromyalgia treatment when it is available. The impact play is helpful for my fibro. Giving up control is helpful for me mentally to just switch gears and get out of my cluttered head space.

Being a dom and taking control in some aspects of someone’s life has been so amazing for my confidence and my voice. I get quiet and reserved in everyday life but in a dynamic with consent I feel comfortable to let my inner voice speak loud and proud.

I like writing on this app, it feels like a journal lol. It is nice knowing that there are significantly more experienced people than me in the chat lobby or out there. It's gotten me better at handing out compliments and not overthinking little things but I'm working my way up and always learning.

I don't play CNC, no judgement for your choice your body.
I used to get panic attacks if anything was too tight around my neck due to a very bad unwanted situation, that was my infant's favorite place to snuggle up and fall asleep but if I tried to lay down the pressure would cause a flash back to that terrible moment. Bdsm help me overcome that trauma response and regain control of my mental strength so my baby can snuggle and sleep on me without feeling the residual of something terrible.

All in all, the whole scene is an enormous confidence boost.. it’s calming and gives an escape mentally which is needed at times.. also helps to push you that little further out of the comfort zone.. both sexually and mentally.. plus a great crowd that hangs out and is always open with advice, stories, tips, etc ..

After my first shibari experience at a workshop I was amazed at the sense of calm I felt for days afterwards. Even work noticed the week after I was so calm, collected and refreshed.

I've definitely had mental health improve as a byproduct of bdsm. Here's my story. I'm a straight guy, married and have always been the strong masculine athletic outdoorsy type of guy. When we first met my wife wanted to try ballbusting, it was her deep down fantasy turn on. I was scared and nervous getting into it. But as an Aries it became a fun challenge and it became a turn on because how much it turns her on. When we first met, I had anger issues, temper issues and would get depression when I didnt have a challenge. My wife getting crazier and crazier with ballbusting has not only made me noticeablly less temper mental because of the adrenaline dumps in a session, but the challenges keep me feeling good like a good workout. It's gotten to where she'll get me tied up totally hands restrained and knees tied wide stuck can't move, get ahold of my nuts and just to town pounding em way past limits while laughing watching me "squirm" as she calls it. Not fun to go through, but is a fun memory after lol

I'm in the mental health field most of my life. I do believe the benefits can be equally positive and negative. It all depends on the parties involved and the desires of such. For myself , soft dom, It's a happy uplifting experience if my partner is in harmony with me.

Well it has been said holding anything inside is unhealthy. I believe this true. This also leads to dead relationships. If you start a relationship. Without putting all cards on the table you definitely can have fallouts.

Unfortunately not. It has shown me how awful men really are and how therapy should be compulsory

Since I've had my FND for 6 years I've not been with anyone, this year I've made a point to get myself out there and I've found embracing my kink side has really helped with my depression just having sites like this where i can post myself has been great. More dms would be nice though haha.

It's changed my life. I am feeling so validated just for being myself, which isn't easily accessible to me anywhere else.

I am as high stress as you can imagine. To the point I'm kinda zen about it.
Within my devotee, I found a much healthier way to manage my stress and evolve spiritually. I don't think I would be with such growth without him.
I think we're in a very positive feedback with each other. I haven't had a self destructive thought in months. I feel like this is such a positive outlet for my existence

Idk, I feel like it helped me when I was with my partner but after exiting my relationship it feels like a massive need that can't be met.

I feel  in general

Kink can help with Mental Health but should never be used as a substitute or crutch away from actually MH support -- because I've come across folk who've put too much stock into kink fixing/helping their MH and then this has made things worse when they don't get what they want and/or can make people needy or demanding on their partners or others.

But...

taking up any form of hobby or community is good for social needs.  So just turning up to a munch (for example) and partaking is good for combatting loneliness, isolation, etc. and can be good for building friend circles and esteem.

Any form of intimacy, especially trust based, can also grow this - but of course if you cannot manage this if a dynamic ends then it was merely a sticking plaster.

Been trying to enter this world for a few months and tbh no help at all. It's been just as detrimental to mental health as every other app. Nothing but scammers and rejection.
I've given up .
