FetLife is useful for finding local kink community and events, and keeping up with friends. It's kinky social media, so trying to use it as a personals site is pointless. But once you find your kink / sex-positive community, you'll have a better chance at finding local folks with whom to discuss your kinky interests.

Please just take your time talking in forums and if you vibe with someone you can strike up some conversations in DM's, the community will want to get used to you first but they will warm up to you and your partner 😄 Then you find more people will start chatting! I’ve been in the kink scene for over 10 years. In that time I’ve spent a lot of time on apps. I met one partner on here, and one on FetLife, but I consider this to be unusually lucky and the exception. Generally speaking, I don’t really know why I stay on these apps. I’ve had 3-4 good experiences in 10 years via apps. On the flip side, I’ve met so many amazing friends and play partners through events. Apps lend themselves to shallow conversation, overchoice, and guys with copy pasta messages trying to get laid with minimal effort. It’s not in the business interests of the app developers for people to be successful (and leave). I’d strongly recommend anyone to ditch the apps in favour of munches and play parties, and meet real people face to face. In the mean time… I’ll keep clicking away too 😂
