There is a trash can icon next to a message that I sent a member sometimes.  What does that mean?  Also how is the response rate calculated?  I respond to all real members that message me, yet my RR is labeled as low and I dont understand that.

Thank you.

The trash symbol indicates the member has deleted the message you sent.  Sorry, but at least you can now move on.

Do you also happen to know how the response rate is calculated?  As I said I respond to all real members and it is still low.

I think it's how quickly you respond. But I could be wrong

It’s how fast you respond to messages regularly…… 😃. I didn’t know that it told members when I delete their messages tho. 😬

It's a ***ful feature of being a paid guest. One pink tick, sent ok, two pink ticks, read. Dustbin, deleted. Evil eye, hidden.

Don't stress, nobody is owed a reply and one can cry quietly in the safety of one's home if snubbed.

Joking aside, it's the ⭐and 👑profiles who get to see these symbols. The rest have no idea what became of their missive.

As for the response rate, using the s***d of reply rather than the breadth is a bit unfair. Many folks can't go anywhere near the site while at work. Too much emphasis on the wrong thing.

But at the same time it takes two seconds to be respectful and reply back and say hi. The hiding eye and deleting garbage can is just BS and rude as hell. Features need taken off.

Respect is respecting they don't want to talk to you and not making them or trying to manipulate them

Deleting your messages is a respectful response.

I don't respond if someone messages me that I don't want to talk to. It's extremely rare I get a message ever (from a real person), but when I have responded with as respectful of a "no" as possible, it's never been met with anything but begging, crying, "but y tho", whatever... and I'm a dude. Imagine how much worse it is for women, if they even had the time to respond to 100 messages a day.
.
Whether they respond "no thanks" or just delete your message or don't respond at all, the answer is clearly "no thanks", just accept it. A no is a no, no matter what. Honestly, I don't see the trash icon as any different than if they just said "no thanks" or didn't respond. Them explicitly telling me "no thanks" doesn't do or change anything about they aren't interested. Honestly, I'd rather they just delete or not respond rather than to respond to "politely decline" or whatever, because that's just a waste of my time, and a bigger let down because I see a notification and get excited I might finally have someone to talk to, only to then be let-down.
.
And as to response rate, seems more helpful to me that it is based on response time, not volume. If they have a high response rate, that tells me something based on time... it tells me there's a good chance they're a bot/scammer because anyone real and with a life shouldn't be instantly responding to all messages. Of course that's not fool-proof either, as the response rate could go up if they're on and actively chatting with someone.

I agree with all you said.  Originally just didnt know what the trash icon meant I do now.  As far as the response rate that is my feeling as well.  If it was based on response time it may be more helpful than rate.  The rate is misleading is a way because a low response rate makes it look like you never respond, when in fact I do, much like yourself when it is a real person.  Thank you for your reply

Maybe ask the duty FetMod to lock it down. I agree, it's done its duty and will still be visible.
