Mark-2318 Posted November 3 A big problem of mine is growing up. I was taught that it was wrong to like someone for their body. But I think that's stupid. A person's attractiveness is just as important as a person's personality. Like I get, it's wrong if you only see a person for their body, but most of the time, it's a conversation starter. Like in movies that make hot people the villains, it makes it seem like you have to choose whether you could have a good body or personality, kinda like the nice guy argument. It's like, actually, just because you don't put work into your body doesn't mean it's wrong for other people who do, to get attention. Does anyone have a similar opinion, or am I just crazy.
Sw**** Posted November 3 Youre absolutely correct. This is how bad catfish situations happen. Physical attraction is just as, if not more important (within our relm/app/dynamics in this scene). The only thing that I truly 100 percent believe in when it comes to addressing the issue (of course you never ever want to make someone feel bad about themselves) is to make sure you let that person down gently, when letting them down I wouldn't bring looks into it even if that were to be the issue. Stay respectful and you have done nothing wrong at all. You're correct about people who enjoy the gym to LOOK and also feel good, I understand working out makes me more attractive, so I do it. I don't blame others for not being attracted to me. Great post friend and don't worry your opinion is absolutely valid.
Deleted Member Posted November 3 Like you said, as long as that's not all you like about them or the only thing you see I'd say it's perfectly normal. Humans as a whole tend to gravitate towards those who look like their ideal partner and act like an ideal partner so as much as personality is important, looks matter at least somewhat if we are being honest
KT**** Posted November 3 I think you should be physically and emotionally attracted to someone for a long successful relationship. Like they can have a kickass body and be a douchebag, that won't last long. But same goes for a great personality, you want there to be some form of physical attraction as well. But with that being said. Even as a full figured woman, self confidence goes a long way (for anyone). I've heard not only my husband tell me that self confidence is the sexiest thing about a person. You need to be able to love yourself, if you want someone to love you too.

Lu**** Posted November 3 What do you think love at first sight means? Everything is about sex (genetics, health, attraction, etc)

It really comes down to "why are kidding ourselves" when you see a group of people in a bar, youre not blind to their looks before getting to know them. For me, key is just staying respectful about it

As an example, if I were to be approached by someone who I didn't find attractive and I wasn't interested, I'd make sure they I didn't come across mean or harsh in my rejection "if it's not something somebody can fix in 5 minutes, don't point it out" is a great qoute
ki**** Posted November 3 There's pros and cons to it I believe I believe that it is 100% true you need to have that connection with physical looks and attraction just cuz they have an amazing body they might not have a good heart or soul you just got to be able to ask questions and be completely honest and open I'm 38 I sure don't look like I'm a 38 year old guy I work out keep myself healthy and dressed nicely because I know what I want and what women should want
ki**** Posted November 3 They always say everyone's beautiful in their own way physical attraction does go hand in hand with chemistry books beauty I'm 38 I don't look 38 I work out I'm not a stuck up I have the most confidence out of everyone probably but don't we all and I just like to look good cuz I know what I want and I know what women want
Curiously_Exploring Posted November 3 Normally, I can find something attractive physically in a person I've met in person, if I am attracted to their mind. Earlier this year, I felt so awful that it just didn't happen that way with a really lovely guy in my social circle. It made me realise that yes, looks are important as well, even if we may have a wide range of markers for physical attractiveness.
Deleted Member Posted November 3 A person's attractiveness is just as important as their personality for you. And that's absolutely fine - it's your preference. Although I am curious why you only mention their body and not their face. But it's not the same for everyone. Some of us rate other things more highly than a good body or a cute face. Attraction has to be there, absolutely - but we find attraction in different ways.
DM**** Posted November 4 I agreed until the last bit about "put work in"... The reason I agreed with you is because I like it the other way around. I'm looking for the kind of curves people go to the gym to get rid of. Big boobs & butts & a bit of a belly (in just the right proportions) will get my attention, and if she has pale skin with freckles & orange hair she'll melt my brain and make me dumb. This actually happened just this morning. There's a new girl at Tim Hortons and it was love at first sight. She was clearly too young for me though so I didn't try to flirt. But OMG was she beautiful! I have 1 more reason to wish I was 20 years younger today.
