That message is "passive" in that it tells you what a helpful human being you have been during the Hunt. As long as it says that you have collected 4 icons and shows them in the grid you are fine. My gift count is 89. None were accidents. However I accept that this can and does happen. So keep a record of the location of the icons for each day. If one does disappear you know where to go to recollect it.
