For the Span of a Breath

Recommended Posts

(edited)

She longed for my fiery passion;

I scorched her with napalm.

She wanted to be special;

I stripped her of all identity.

She pleaded for my attention;

I bathed her in exquisite suffering.

She begged to feel my razor’s edge;

I carved deep into her soul.

She thirsted to drink deep my darkness;

I drowned her in my desire.

She hungered to feed me;

I ate a shard of her fragile heart.

She implored to know me better;

I shattered her understanding.

She wavered under the weight of awareness;

I am intimately familiar my failure.

She tells me she needs to escape;

I know she means to discard me.

I will be forgotten.

(I promise.)

But…

…For the span of a breath…

She longed for my fiery passion,

And I scorched her with napalm.
