Dark soul tying romance

- I do not love you Gently -
You came to me smelling of ruin and deceit,
with hands that had held other storms,
With eyes that did not promise safety,
or truth.
And I, foolishly knelt for you anyway.
You are not a saint.
Your past clings to you,
Like prison walls that you cannot seem to escape.
You carry ghosts in your pockets and,
sometimes you speak to them instead of me.
I have seen your ugliness,
The wandering eyes you possess,
Your half kept words,
The part of you that always keeps one foot out the door.
And still I find myself mending the scars left behind,
by wounds I never even caused.
There is something in you though,
a broken flickering light,
a hunger that mirrors my own at times.
You do not love like a sweet boy offering a flower from a nearby field,
You love like a man struggling to survive himself.
I, myself am not without fault though.
I love with questions,
with a *** of abandonment that disguises itself as strength.
I have tried to hold you tightly,
To pray you into becoming something steadier than you were ready to be.
We are not pure.
We are not holy.
We are two imperfect creatures,
Standing together, broken in the wreckage,
Clinging to one another despite the carnage.
If you left, it would not erase what you were to me.
If you stay, it will not be because I was blind to your faults.
It will be because somewhere in the dark,
between your shadow and mine,
we found a flicker of light,
That felt like home.
Because despite our differences,
we share one overwhelming feeling of insanity.
I love you...
and yet,
Why do you fall silent when I reach for you?
Why does your mouth close when mine trembles open?
Do you not feel it?
This violent, unholy, devotional love?
Speak to me...
Do not leave me constantly standing with my heart laid bare in my hand...

So beautifully written. You truly have a way with words and invoking deep emotions. ❤️
