Curious if any of you kinksters are into them or were into them. What is it that you like about them? Have favorite albums or songs that you like? What are bands/artists you listen to?

The reason I liked them so much was their music has interesting melodies over something fast or even heavy. My favorite albums by them are Nevermind and In Utero.

My favorite songs by them were:
On The Plain
Stay Away
Serve The Servants
Scentless Apprentice
Radio Friendly Unit Shift
Very Ape
About A Girl
You Know You’re Right
Breed
Territorial ***ings
Endless Nameless
Lounge Act

I’m pretty sure there’s many more to include but I’ll just list a few here for now.

Other bands I listen to are:
Gorilla Biscuits
Descendents
***age Fanclub
Senseless Things
Mega City Four
Leatherface
Rites To Spring
Dag Nasty
Hüsker Dü
The Wildflowers
Foo Fighters
Green Day
Weezer
Radiohead
Doughboys
Therapy?
Ned’s Atomic Dustbin
Big Drill Car
The Replacements
The Lemonheads
Pixies
Jawbreaker
Midway Still

no, this is the correct forum

the Online Munch Forum is for general chat - literally in the description

As a music connoisseur I have to say In Utero is one of those groundbreaking albums in music history. Cobain wasn’t a great guitarist, so you’re basically hearing noise but, as you pointed out, done somehow melodically.

Ever heard of a band called Screaming Trees? They’re a hidden gem out of Seattle that’s similar to Nirvana, just more like melancholy melody I guess you’d say

I forgotten to add Aneurysm! Dammit! Lol
I’ll give Floyd The Barber I listen, thanks for the suggestion!

My favorites, come as you are, lithium,in bloom, heart shaped box, all apologies, Floyd the barber, negative creep, breed and of course smells like *** spirit

I live along the muddy banks of the wishkah.

Even though Nirvana isn’t very present in my musical diet these days I still have an immense fondness for Bleach and In Utero. Didn’t quite get into Nevermind on the same level but I certainly don’t dislike it. I do recall really loving Something in the Way into Endless, Nameless. My current favorite song by them is Moist Vagina. As for what I like about the band, they just have a good sense for memorable melodies with a satisfying amount of heft in the productions. Kurt’s double-tracked vocals have always impressed me. He had a voice that was just as well-suited for screaming as it was for singing in almost a whisper. Neat band.

I liked the wild, whole sound of Nivanah. I listen to
The Pretty Wreckless
Lords of Acid = Power Is Mine.
Depeche Mode.
Girlie = some of her songs such as Hot Mess.
A mix of passion, raw, rage then mellow. Dependant on my mood.

yes...I was working in Studant Radio when Nevermind dropped. I knew Bleach pretty well and played About a Girl on my show pretty often. On a Plain is also one of my favorites, along with Lounge Act and Territorial ***ings.
My background was 1st wave US hardcore, like Black Flag, Circle Jerks, DK, 7 Seconds...the Descendents, and then later 2nd wave stuff like Lagwagon, Dag Nasty (saw Field Day the last show before Covid, on leap year Feb 29...Field Day being what Dag calls themselves without Brian Baker) . I also came up with metal and pop metal, and it just seemed like Nirvana took the Beatles and Black Sabbath and crammed them together.

It was a crazy year, 1991. Go check how many diamond (10 million sold) US albums were released in that year.

Based on your songs there, I'd say if you aren't already knee deep in Lagwagon, you should be. And 7 Seconds, the other 1st wave melodic hardcore...

i just without reading the comments said that Lagwagon has to be included given his likes. May 16 was my most played song on my music app...IN 2025! Absolute gem of 2nd wave US hardcore. Joey Raposo's bass is so vital to them keeping it fresh since he joined, and it's a natural trip then to head over to listen to some 1st wave RKL for his earlier band.
