Are Doms always dominate?

[Deleted Member]

To be more specific are Doms always dominate in all aspects of life, or is the dominance just with their subs?

[Deleted Member]

That is a great question. Some Doms are Dominant 24/7 they really do commit to being Dominant in every aspect of their life. Other Doms will reserve that Dominance for their submissives only, this may be due to a range of reasons so its not a yes or no answer if that makes any sense.

Meh, its a spectrum. I tend to dominate my partners because i tend to be more dominant than them. If my partner was more dominant then I would be their submissive.

Some of us, like myself, live it, but I know a few switches. It depends on the personality of the individual, but remember, dominant doesn't mean abusive.

Both answers was kind of what I thought. Thanks for answering, I appreciate it.

Piggybacking from earlier, I agree it is a spectrum. Some Doms are only dominant when in scene or at home, while others keep those same traits active all day regardless of company kept. I will also add fake/ improper doms usually turn out to be the jerks you run into at the store who choose to be “Dom” all day.

I'm not always dominant...it's my default in bed but in regular life I'm just focused on being pragmatic and efficient. I'm not trying to dominate people to and situations in other aspects of life....I'm only dominant to a woman that wants to submit to me

These are all good points thanks!

I agree with Mr_Dork in the aspect of improper/fake. If you're acting dominant in a way that makes you come off as an arrogant jerk, then it's not usually healthy and will make you less dominant. I myself served my community until recently as a volunteer firefighter, and being respectful is important.

What a breath of fresh air to see some non toxic Doms

[Va****]

No.. not all.
I see women as equals. I like to keep the Dom Sub thing in the bedroom.

Naw we can be versatile

I choose only to be Dominant when at home. This is my choice. To be Dominate in Every Aspect to me is to “ Own “ a Submissive!

[mr****]

I am dom 24/7. But more than, at home or outside home, its with 'who' belongs to me. To Rest of the world and people, I'm just another person. For me it's more a way of life and it just 'exists' for nearly 2 decades. But I also have strong views and am opinionated so that provides clarity. It's not loud all day long kind off a thing. I definitely listen. There is freedom. But i also have the privilege to .. shall we say ..veto. But then, some one like myself, doesn't function well in... scenes and temp scenarios etc.

[Do****]

A Dom 24/7 would be an "effin" dictator.

[mr****]

Hahaha.. yeah.. and I'm privileged to know some that like it. But, it's ultimately a matter or trust, duty and devotion. Takes some time and effort to build, but last very long.

[Laycette]

For fuck's sake. Dominant. The word is 'dominant'. Dominate is a verb. Dominant is either an adjective or a noun if referring to a person by their role. But never 'dominate', that is something you do. Please, people. You're killing us here.

Until they run into a man who is more dominant

[in****]

Like many personality traits, it falls on a spectrum and for some people it’s situational. For example, some switches are dominant toward one gender or group of genders and not with others. It is fairly common for people who identify strongly with the dominant role in kink to generally behave in ways and display personality traits many identify with dominance - assertivenes, decisiveness, quiet competence, confidence, leadership, offering guidance - but there is also a very significant subset of sexually submissive folk who are competent, confident leaders and decision-makers in their daily life but submissive in the bedroom, often seeking to take a break and turn control. Most often people who habitually try to dominate or *** their will onto everyone around them are bullies and insecure jerks more than dominants.

the question here is what do you mean in "all aspects of life" because - I guess, there's the old rule that a Dominant might be *your* Dominant, but not everyone's and also there is heirarchy and structure in every aspect of life.

Even a CEO of a big company, for example, is answerable to the shareholders.

Yes and no ... For example I've always been a leader even with my friends as a kid, always in control and alpha ,. I joke and say even at work with my boss I'm in control he just doesn't realize it, but not all doms are the same as me is my overall point

[ey****]

I guess also, there is a very common trope of people who are dominant in "every day life" who are submissive when it comes to D/s or sexually.  For many different reasons.

Little bratty of you

I think to be genuinely dominant you should be a good leader, teacher, be willing to fight and die to protect those you love. If you’re going to be in of authority, it’s also a position of responsibility to improve the lives of those who submit to your authority in every aspect. To become CEO of a fortune of a Fortune 500 company, you’re more likely a manipulative sociopath.
