Books Recommendations for Shibari/Rigger

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone :)

I'm trying to learn more regarding ropes and Shibari. I would like to buy some books. I already looked around the internet in some sub reddit but I also would like to know if the FET community had some good recommendations.

Thank you in advance to anyone who will reply

Same here. It’s something I’d love to learn

“Miumi-U Teaches Shibari” is a solid pick, although I’ve found it easier to learn via videos and in person workshops

Yeah that's so what I heard! Personal workshop seems to be the best option. But I would still like to read more about it. Thank you very much though!

“Learning the Ropes” by Knotty Boys is an amazing starter book for shibari. It’s by far the best one I’ve found.

Knotty Boys make a TON of great books from beginner to expert. Very detailed and includes illustrations to help explain the process of tying.

Amazing! Thank you so much

I’d like to add if you don’t have a partner to practice on, use a pillow. It’s very similar to a torso size. I use my legs, feet, and pillows to practice. There are shibari mannequins you can get but they are expensive and I wouldn’t recommend that unless you fall completely in love with it and want to drop the coin and don’t have a regular partner

The Beginner's Guide to Rope Bondage by JE Earl
Essence of Shibari: Kinbaku and Japanese Rope Bondage by Shin Nawakari
Better Bondage for Every Body by Evie Vane

These are all on Amazon between $16-30

Thank you so much!!

Many local clubs will have regularly (or irregularly) scheduled classes too with the added bonus that there are usually willing partners if one wants to practice on same ;)
