When you gift an icon, the member you are gifting to receives the icon and the points for that icon.  If you would like the icon and the points back you just need to return to its original hiding place and it will be waiting for you to recollect. Once you recollect you will also get your points back too.  Best to keep a list of where you originally found the icons as the system will randomly gift from what you have collected so far.  The list will help you work out which one is gifted and where to go to recollect again. 

I have accidentally gifted but I don’t know how to do it intentionally. I know it’s been posted before but can you post the directions again?

Each post rejection carries a reason.  From this thread, the most likely reasons are due to clues being too direct, either saying directly where the icon is or using words that too directly lead to the icon.  Make clues cryptic in some ways and they will be accepted.
