So a Unicorn is a 3rd who is in a relationship with both members of a couple. There's less equality than any form of poly triad. It also kinda differs a little bit from just being the third in a threesome (though this is sometimes referred to as a unicorn also) So a couple who want a regular play partner - it's almost typically that this is a m/f couple seeking another f - so she has to be bi/pan and attracted to both members of the couple AND want to be in a relationship with them that doesn't really come with equal footing - which makes it obviously rare hence the name 'unicorn'

Thanks. of course - no problem There's so much other to add in but then also consider - a lot of women who may be open to this have, at some point, being contacted to by a couples profile or the female of a couple and then at virtually the last minute - the female of the couple will be unavailable and the guy will be "Hey, we can still have fun right?" and it be questionable if there was ever a female of the couple (or if she was just wingwomaning to find sex for her partner.) so this then creates a wariness, particularly online.

Ro**** Posted April 3, 2022 I mean… i actually have found quite a few recently. 4 in the last 6 months. I’ll also agree most peoples goal just need to align more. Its easier to find them open to poly and more needing their basic needs met and some caregiver time than c** c** with us and leave in an hour or so. My partner is also better at caregiving for unicorns and strays than I expected being a major bonus.

Ja**** Posted May 2, 2022 They are called unicorns because unicorns are scarce but if you consider the difficulty only one person has finding a mate and then multiply that by two people you begin to understand that though the addition of another person is a linear operation the fitting into an extant situation of a third person increases the odds against you exponentially.
