How much of dominance is actually about knowing when not to take? đź–¤

Lord***eren

you should never be taking anything not given. Control is give, and everything in that box is what they can and cant do. the power is only there because the submissive gave it. At that point its how much control she wants you to have, and how much he can use on here. There are different kinds of doms as well. So some might take more then they are allowed but it will not go past the box of submission. If it does then that is a red flag and should be a stopping point.

Pushing a sub past her limits isnt taking.

If I’m understanding your question correctly - I will answer it this way. It’s a major part of domination if you’re with a real Dom. First communication is key. Second is developing trust. This leads to a Dominant’s ultimate goal (as far as I’m concerned) to understand your submissive better than they may understand themselves. Then the Dom will know when and how much they can “take” and when it’s necessary to give their submissive room to acclimate and accept the dynamic. If I mis understood the question or you want need clarification on what I’m saying - please IM.

A Dominant's job isn't to take it's to give. They give structure, leadership and emotional safety. Their role is to give direction, clear expectations, protocols and commands that remove the burden of decision making from the Submissive. The role is about leadership not authority. It's about creating an environment where the Submissive feels safe enough to let go of control.

not to take.... what...?

My vanilla friends look at me and think my M/s relationships are all: "Bring me a sammich bitch!" After years of being a 24/7 Master with several slaves I often wonder who is really the slave in a M/s relationship? Day after day of making all the decisions for everything is really tiring. My slaves have it easy, they just do what they are told and have a great life. I am the one who is really responsible for making sure everything is in order and working properly, finding corrections when things go wrong, and finding proper punishments and rewards for slaves.

I've often said that owning a slave is similar to owning a Ferrari. You can just drive the wheels of it but without proper maintenance is a very short time you will end up with a worthless hunk of junk. There are so called "doms" who just take but it never ends well.

As others have posted being a Master is about leading, not taking. A better question would be, How much autonomy should slaves be allowed to give their Master some freedom?

Probably more than people think..

When I was less experienced, I thought being a good Dom was about knowing what to take. Over time, I realised it’s just as much about knowing what to leave untouched.

You don’t have to use every bit of power someone gives you. Sometimes choosing not to is the clearest sign that you actually understand what they’ve given you.

Knowing when to take control is important. Knowing when not to is what makes it yours.
