Popular Post Si**** Posted Monday at 01:28 AM Popular Post For me, dominance isn’t about being the loudest person in the room or pushing someone past their comfort zone. It’s about presence, communication, trust, and knowing how to hold the energy you’re asking someone to surrender into. I’m curious how others see it: what makes a Dominant feel safe, grounded, and trustworthy to you? Is it confidence? Consistency? Clear boundaries? Aftercare? The way they communicate before anything physical happens? Especially interested in hearing from people who are newer to kink and those who’ve been in the lifestyle for years.
Bu**** Posted Monday at 03:51 AM Trust and communication. Respect of boundaries. Trust especially can be hard to reach. I'm always waiting for the negative to appear when i meet new people. For me, i think a gentleness outside the dynamic and active empathy and compassion for those around you will get you a safe feeling sub faster.
Da**** Posted Monday at 03:51 AM Honestly all of it but the big one is how they communicate before hand if i’m not comfortable before hand there’s a really big chance i won’t be comfortable at all
im**** Posted Monday at 04:01 AM As a sub with alot of trauma and alot of it centered around situations that made me "too much", "too sensitive", etc.....for me to feel like I can submit it need to feel safe. Not just with body but also my emotions and mind. I want to know the dom can handle whatever may come out during a scene in a grounded controlled gentle way. Sometimes my sub drops will trigger my panic attacks, sometimes it triggers false insecurities voiced by my anxiety, sometimes discipline will trigger embarrassment and tears (almost a Lil mindset)......I need to know that when that happens they truly have me and will keep me grounded and bring me back to base line again. Same goes for conversation as well, I need to know if we're having a hard conversation that they can stay grounded and emotionally intelligent enough to communicate without making me *** a sharp tongue and anger. If they need a minute thats understandable just communicate it.
typhoon2 Posted Monday at 06:18 AM I've been told by playmates that I cover safety and assurance issues that they'd never even considered themselves. This meant that they had faith in my knowledge as well as trust in my intentions. Experience, education and practice led me to this level of knowledge, and time devoted to comprehensive negotiations demonstrated it to the playmates. Patience is key, never rushing them and giving them time and space to decide for themselves. It's not to say that I don't do pick-up play, where pre-play interactions aren't truncated, but generally word has already spread or rhey've winessed one of my scenes previously.

Is pick-up play like a blind date or first date? I have never heard that term before and have no experience in the lifestyle due to the close minds in this area.
Cr**** Posted Monday at 07:43 AM As someone who is a total newbie in the community with zero real experience, I assume that drawing a line between the dynamic and the basics of respectful human interaction is what will make me feel safe. If I have a mistress who treats me respectfully outside the dynamic, I will be assured that she will respect my boundaries during the dynamic.
bi**** Posted Monday at 08:11 AM Spot on. For me, safety comes from absolute predictability in boundaries and emotional intelligence. When a submissive knows the container is unbreakable, surrender happens naturally without ***
typhoon2 Posted Monday at 08:15 AM @PrincessZena Is pick-up play like a blind date or first date? I have never heard that term before and have no experience in the lifestyle due to the close minds in this area. I use the term pick-up play to describe encounters that lead to play, usually in clubs or at other events. For instance, one might get chatting at the bar and decide to try a scene or someone watches me play and fancies trying it themself with me. Negotiations are shortened but still essential.
Wh**** Posted Monday at 08:47 AM I'm dom and I think it's all about security and empowerment. Take breaks, push limits, for the most part, I do whatever I want/ whatever she wants, I know what my partner wants n needs.
No**** Posted Monday at 09:13 AM Communication is key. I want my rope bunny to know what's going to happen and i do want to know how she feels. Safe words are cool, but shouldnt be required if there is a clear line of communication, which means i must pay attention. And of course aftercare is required. It's wonderful seeing a rope bunny doing things to be tied up. It's almost like they're checking to see if i'm paying attention. I like that!
theSir_ObservingU Posted Monday at 09:58 AM as a Dom, from the feed back of my subs, its that i own my own sh*t, i have emotional intelligence and a sense of calm. its not easy to rock my boat so they always, know what they will get and how i will react in normal circumstances. i hold space for myself as i hold space for their submissive nature to unfold.
Th**** Posted Monday at 01:42 PM As a sub, it’s knowing they are unshakable- unshakable in their self, unshakable by my antics and unshakable in their knowledge of handling me. That’s what creates the psychological safety to feel all your feelings and be everything you are because your dom can hold space for you to do and be everything as they know how to lead you right.

Its something that takes ALOT of emotion education, knowing themselves, knowing coping skills, and emotional intelligence ..... so far most doms that find me(because I dont even have to look apparently) are usually just grown brat sadists lol
Bl**** Posted Monday at 04:08 PM Honesty and open communication. There is nothing that builds greater trust than those things imo. And consistency. A partner must show up and if they can't, context of why they can't make all the difference. Because let's be honest, even Dominants get overwhelmed too.
su**** Posted Monday at 05:03 PM I've been in the lifestyle for over a decade. I find trust is the most important aspect. To get to trust you need communication and consistency as well as structure. Another important aspect is the D's ego. If it is out of control and they think they don't need to learn more or practice or they should just be served because they can swing a flogger, it makes me doubt they can lead me to be more than I am. A D is a leader more than anything. If a D's main goal isn't to better their s, then why would an s want to follow them? If their goal is selfish in nature, then it will never work or it will plateau quickly and fizz out. As a submissive, my goal is to make your life better in any way possible through serving you. As a Dominant, your goal should be the same by being a true leader.
Le**** Posted Monday at 05:13 PM I’m someone who holds a lot without recognizing. I carry weight that I am so used to that I forget it’s even there, even though the *** and ache of it still affects me. Submission comes easy to me if a Dom can see it and hold onto it with me. I don’t ask that they take it all, just lighten the load. I feel it most when they notice things and act without me having to ask. Being cared for without having to say exactly what needs done melts my little heart and makes me feel safe enough to let go.
Sp**** Posted Monday at 05:38 PM Thats what its about. Being authentically yourself and building the trust communication and keeping it consistent.
la**** Posted Monday at 05:46 PM It’s a trust bond. It’s not one specific part of inside/outside the bedroom, it’s the whole package. I know I’m emotionally, physically and mentally safe with my Dom. We are each others grounding point for when life is kicking our asses.
NJ**** Posted Monday at 07:45 PM @TheWildChild777 - exactly. I’ve described it the very same way. When I test …I’m accused of being dominant I dread of them recognizing …they just are not dominant enough or grounded enough to lead. Well stayed
