Popular Post Th**** Posted Saturday at 07:23 PM Popular Post I keep hearing the idea that women outnumber men in the kink community, but getting on these types of apps lately, it feels like a total misconception. Every time I browse or look at new threads, it seems to be overwhelmingly men. Am I crazy, or is this just the reality of the app? I suspect it is a mix of things. Men are just much more likely to be active, post threads, and send messages, while women are more likely to lurk to avoid getting flooded in their direct messages. Also, we can not ignore the fake profiles. Honestly, I love seeing people find their person. I am just searching for mine, and it would be nice to have a more balanced pool to look through. What is everyone else's experience? For the women and femmes on here, do you feel outnumbered, or are you just hanging back and watching the chaos?
to**** Posted Saturday at 10:01 PM I do believe they're is alot of phoney profiles especially the women some of they're profiles say they're 50 something but have the face of a goddess not likely possible yes but not likely
Th**** Posted Saturday at 10:02 PM First off it's important to keep in mind that this app isn't the kink community. So looking at it alone isn't going to be an accurate representation. I'm not sure if i've ever heard it said before that women outnumber men, where are you hearing this?
jo**** Posted Saturday at 10:16 PM Its also simply the fact that men end up here being horny even kf they are actually vanilla. And women don't wanna deal with horny men with no genuine intrest in kink. And that apps don't really are equal to the community at all.

Between 2022 and 2023, FEELD (similar app), their revenue nearly doubled from $21.9 million to $41.4 million . 61% male and 39% female is the ratio there. On fet here, we are probably around 70% of men The growth came from somewhere and it wasn't primarily from experienced practitioners. Influx of people who "don't really know anything about the nuances of kink, how to be ethically non-monogamous, or how to navigate consent" . « Users described the app as becoming a platform for men to throw around the word 'dom without understanding it," while another said it was "oversaturated with people with no clue; asking overly intimate questions straight off the bat" . » I see another patern as well for women, throwing the word submissive instead of bottom without knowing the difference. My domme’s friends get their inbox exploded by male submissives. The commercial success of platforms like fet, Feeld etc…depends on volume, and volume means welcoming people who have absorbed the vocabulary but not the practice. And many fake profiles here too.

Ve**** Posted Saturday at 10:57 PM I'm not sure about the phoney profile aspect of the app, as I'm still new here and exploring and have met a few people. But I can say I feel like the men do outnumber the women. Especially the kind of men that don't read womens profiles and respect what they say on them. They just see a cute pic and message. Don't even introduce themselves. This is supposed to be a kink community but I feel like the men don't respect the tags and are just looking for a quick hit and run. You're not crazy, I think the women are just tired of low effort men flooding their DMs. It was fun at first, but it gets old quickly.

Ec**** Posted Saturday at 11:16 PM If I was to guess on the validity of what you have heard, I would believe it in a sense of in reality vs online. For instance, if apps were evidence of trends, then most the population is men according to tinder. Past that, within a kink community, I could hear an argument women out number men in a sense of “it is more socially ‘encouraged’ for women to engage in kinks.” Consider how some content creators get popular for embracing certain things. Additionally, two women kissing in a threesome, hot to “most” people; two men kissing in a threesome, weird to “most” people.
Loganmjol Posted Saturday at 11:27 PM You only need to see the received messages when a new woman joins this app to see it’s a flood of men or a flood of bots and men…. Lots of fake women profiles which usually you can spot easily but even with real profiles some have seriously filtered or AI enhanced images you need to be inspector Clouseau to even get the spidey senses down.
JJ**** Posted Saturday at 11:38 PM Women outnumber men in the kink community that pertains to those who practice kink as a lifestyle preference/practice. Men will always outnumber women when it comes to sex as the main driving factor on any and all dating apps.
Gr**** Posted Saturday at 11:39 PM Yeah I don't believe that for a second that women outnumber than men in the Kink community. I believe men are born with a kink Factor some women too however most men are all perverted just like me
notmyemail78 Posted Saturday at 11:42 PM Legitimacy is such a wide and varied thing in this world now days on so many more levels than at any other point in time.
sh**** Posted yesterday at 12:24 AM More men are free and open about it because there isn't a social stigma against them having a lot of sex or kinks.
me**** Posted yesterday at 01:38 AM I believe what it is is that women control the community while men are simply chosen. Those who are gifted in certain areas or chosen by women to be held up higher by the backing of women. I haven't seen a house last very long for someone who is a man and doesn't have a type of female backing so that other ladies know it is semi safe
je**** Posted yesterday at 02:05 AM Despite the specific of kink men are far more active on dating apps far outnumbering wemen by a long shot

Pe**** Posted yesterday at 10:54 AM I see a lot of guys on here. While I can’t speak to the guys’ perspective, I’ll say that more times than not I won’t engage for the following reasons: I see no effort in their appearance/hygiene, I’m hit with disrespect immediately in the first few messages, & or they have nothing on their profile except a single blurry picture or they have 10 thousand plus words on their profile.
Az**** Posted yesterday at 11:30 AM Women dominate in person social spaces. Men just stroke online and move on with their day.

The dating apps tap into that. The men have to pursue and therefore that’s where the *** is. Without that these apps wouldn’t make very much ***

As the OP of this topic, I want to clear up my original post and address the discussion that has come up. First, I want to thank ThaliaV for chiming in. While the delivery felt a little abrasive, I appreciate the engagement. To clarify her point, she mentioned that this app is not the kink community and that looking at it alone is not an accurate representation. I agree that this app is not the same as the broader in person scene. However, I still argue that with over 40,000 users connecting worldwide, and people meeting up miles apart, this platform absolutely is a kink community in its own right. It is a very real digital community, even if it looks different from other spaces. I also want to thank the other gentlemen who placed their input, especially joeri010. Your point about vanilla men coming to these apps just because they are horny and women not wanting to deal with that is a very important part of this discussion. To answer the question about where I am hearing this: the idea that women outnumber men is a very common talking point in broader kink spaces, forums, and even at in person events. I brought it up here to see if that common idea actually matches the reality of this app. Looking at the actual facts, this notion cannot be proven by global demographics. The global population is essentially split at roughly 101 males to 100 females. Furthermore, when we look at actual kink community studies, the data is mixed. A recent UK study found participants were predominantly cisgender men, while a study in China found the opposite with more women. This data confirms my original suspicion that the idea women universally outnumber men is a myth, and that our community demographics actually vary wildly depending on the region. Now I want to turn it back to everyone here. What has been some of your experiences? How long have you been in the community? Moving forward, let us keep this a space for open discussion rather than defense. Please refrain from taking anything personally as we share our different experiences and talk about these ratios.
Ba**** Posted yesterday at 05:26 PM Well OP kind of answered his first question in the opening post but yeah it’s mostly just dating apps And there a quite a few ways the number get obscured, like men being more likely to practice kink while not being active in the community and women just not being counted individually for a variety of dumb reasons A interesting semi related statistic that surprised me a bit recently is women apparently being more likely to express sadistic tendencies physically while men tend to prefer emotional and psychological means
de**** Posted yesterday at 05:39 PM Your demographics are slightly inaccurate. Firstly, you are describing sex and not gender. Secondly you are not accounting for age or region. Globally, at birth, the sex ratio is 105m:100f, at ages 45-49 it is 101.7m:100f. After 50, the trend continues to reverse the ratio at an accelerating rate. By age 100, the ratio is 24m:100f. This may be due to much higher mortality rates among males than females. It could also be due to interventions, in some regions, where male offspring are preferred over female offspring. Regardless females outnumber males after 50.
