Band or Musician that had the most influence on you, vanilla or kink

Recommended Posts

For me vanilla wise......Ian Curtis of Joy Division  77 to 83.  Poetry and sheer depth of feel8ng made an indelible impression on my life.    Kinkwise, Incubus Succubus I discovered in the early years of the now UK defunct Informed Consent site,  through members I used to meet rl with.  I still love pagan rock to this day.

Only real music that has any connection to this lifestyle for me is hip-Hop album from 2005 by Necro - The Sexorcist, favourite song on the album - Who's Ya Daddy. For gods sake tho if your curious about what this is, make sure no one vanilla is around, especially kids or you may be paying for their therapy

Kinkwise in music is probably Geni***rs who I'm really pleased to finally be able to see this year.  Like, a ***age me seeing Gen wearing nothing but a pocket watch in Kerrang! had a lasting effect.

Vanilla - changeable.  There were different bands at different parts of my life from Placebo to Metallica to The ***s of Mercy.

Incidentally, I DJ'd with Inkubus Sukkubus recently.

Just recently saw Elvis Costello at The Fillmore in Miami Beach! What an amazing show that was!! Charlie Sexton is quite the best bass player I’ve yet to seen live!

Can’t really think of any of one kinkwise other than Madonna, Donna Summer, & Prince. Sorry I don’t really pay attention  to kinks in music unless it’s bluntly obvious.

as for Vanilla, I’ve been into 80s alternative/post-punk/new wave, and 70s pop punk. Bands from these genres tend to vary but the ones that stuck out to me were The Psychedelic Furs, New Order, The Smiths, Hüsker Dü, The Smithereens, Cocteau Twins, Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr,  The Primitives, The Replacements, R.E.M., The Style Council, The Jam, Elvis Costello, The Clash, Ramones, Joe Jackson, Pretenders, The Go- Gos,  and The Wild Swans.

The Cure disintegration, The Cure kiss me kiss me kiss me album.

Music has been so ingrained in getting older that there's no way I could pick out one, or even a handful, band or artist who has influenced me.

I couldn't even create a definitive list for *** of missing someone.

I think it was Hayseed Dixie that said "I don't want to be a friend with anyone who only has one kind of music in their record collection!"

I used to scene with "Wyches" playing low down in the background, complimented the mood, atmosphere and scene quite well.

One album i hesitated 8 years to buy, because i loved his music so much and didn't A: want to take in he passed and B: thought it might be a lesser album.   Boy was i mistaken, the album is "Blackstar" David Bowies last recording, he wrote and recorded knowing he only had a few months left.  When you watch and listen the Video of both tracks Black Star and Lazarus, it hits quite hard and such a personal message and quite deep meaning with subliminal context.

Kate Bush. She has an album fit for every mood and very poetic yet sensual.
Also watching her music videos made me open up about my own dancing/movement - I am too clumsy to follow dance choreogrqphies but just moving how your body wants to move free of judgement is so good for the soul.

Even though I'm from the post punk and rock era, even I own Kate Bush, " Hounds of Love" album, under ice, jig of life are still quite beautifully haunting to this day.
