You move through me
like lightning, sudden,
a roller coaster surge—
one moment ecstasy,
the next, I’m free-falling
into the abyss.

I reach for your hand,
but it is your demons
that grip me,
pulling me past my limits
while you blame me
for holding my own.

Words you never spoke
curl around me,
a honeyed lie
I knew was poisoned.
Truth, you claim,
yet when I touch your ground,
you surrender.

Screaming,
words empty of truth,
demanding silence—
as if restraint
could masquerade as love.

Your boundaries are a game,
mine are armor,
made to honor myself.
You speak of love,
yet fling your words away
like a greasy fast-food bag,
discarded, worthless,
while I am left
picking through the wreckage By: Kendra.S
