How To Spot A Scam

Recommended Posts

An if someone is using a Bot, there's signs. Certain answers won't properly match what you Asked/Said, is a perfect example. There's also certain Canned Responses that just Sounds/Feels like AI wrote it.
You can also tell if it's a fake account when you recognize the photo they claim is them. Many scammers steal photos in attempts to deceive you.

I feel your *** and came to basically say the same thing lol

Do that already. Image search will show photo is attached to multiple porn sites

Is this a universal problem? I don't look but I've never seen a man bot. Btw the advice here is gold.

most of these sites are hetronormative so folk who are (or are posing as) women will target men.   in some gay websites, there's those who are (or posing as) men that will target men

however, there are plenty of scams which are people who are (or are posing as) men who target women - but the game plan is often different.  It's also more likely to be a long con with a view for a large amount of *** - rather than a quick hundred and done

Anyone who won't video call or meet personally in a public place, they always come with excuses as to why they can't.
With the use of Ai the dating sites have got ridiculous even the video call can be faked
If im texting a guy for awhile now. Hes in the state im in about an 1hr and 45 away. Hasn't asked for anything. Told me so much about him and asked all the questions you would if u are interviewing for a partner for life. Do u think he is real? I didn't meet him on fet either. We were going to call today but I work nights and ended up having to work a 12 hr then had to cancel our call cause of sleep.

Automatically a scammer

If you're a guy its easy to spot scam accounts because they actually liked you or messaged you first.

this is another one which tends to come down to context.  In both cases an issue is often that a guy will push for either of these, either generally quick/presumptious or "prove you're not a scammer" and neither of these are good angles

Agreeing to these also really doesn't bring much automatic reassurance.  Like if someone wants you off platform then they're more likely to be "hey, join me on kik (or wherever) and we'll call there" which has succeeded in an aim, and one of the oldest forms of basic scam did involve agreeing to meet and then a last minute issue - and if someone says their car broke down or this or that, then did this happen? are they having cold feet about meeting and looking for a temporary get out? or is the follow up a financial request (we can still meet if you can help with an uber/train/etc)  and even if that is the info it can be legit

Sadly, of course, there are cases where ladies have agreed to video chat and met with a guy who is naked and/or masturbating - so another reason why you could understand hesitancy if someone is pushing for it.  There has also been issues of guys recording the chat to then use bits of the recording to play to other people as 'verification' of their own.  Especially if it's "prove you're not AI by doing this oddly specific thing"

Granted, depending on the nature of the grift then wanting a coffee meet or video chat first might be a better option - but when guys come out on the accusational "prove you're real" you can see why folk are hesitant.

I always push for a quick hi in a public place for coffee or something close to them sorbet don’t have to go too far. Or I offer to video chat

You forgot email addresses in their profile or screen name. That is also against Fet rules. So I would advise changing yours before someone reports you
If they aren’t willing to FaceTime, run don’t walk. Also check for the verification badge, most apps have that!
Am I giving anything up if someone is calling me/facetiming me thru the app? I didn’t even know that was possible.
I’m calling it FT but yes I believe you can video call one another
Image search. Google lens will show you where those pictures are stolen from
The only real way to prove its not a scam is to meet in person. Even face time can be faked. Hackers can get around the live face time to make you believe it's live.

Pretty much.  And then also that said that pushing to meet in person can be offputting, especially if you imply you think they're fake.

But then, at the same token.... we've all seen The Tindr Swindler, right?

If you want to avoid Google, other reverse image search engines are available.

I have just caught out a fake account that visited my profile. **** reveals that "her" two photos are  of an OF model. I have reported the account, and Fetish is now "verifying" it.

Yes ! As you mentioned and additionally !
1- they are after LTR
2- there's always wrong details such as high 2-3 feet- weight also !
3- Usually use a weird way of conversation - looking for love, shy
4- wrong ages - they will have 20 years old girl photo and they will write 40 or 50 ! Or something like that

Yup! I reported one account, purporting to be a woman, who gave her statistics as 2.2 metres high, and 299 Kg weight, but also "slim"!
