Do search filters actually every work??

As has been stated, your "browse/search" filters do not work on the spank/match game. The spank/match game has limited filters (gender is one), and that's it.

If you're looking for something specific, use the search/browse and start messaging people.

I wish spank/match crap would go away—it's only ever "pick me" crap and scammers that use it for the most part anyway. I'll go a year without it and just get VIP temporarily, literally every spank is from a female profile that's either banned or soon to be banned for being scam/bot (with a handful from gay dudes and couples that didn't read my profile first).

Although I have changed my radius rate, I still sometimes get users from other countries also, cool for cyberfun but very annoying otherwise

Also, you can still spank/match a profile by going directly to said profile from the browse/search.

The match game is just largely based on looks, and I've always hated swipe/match and how it "gamifies" meeting new people. People's social skills these days are already far enough down the toilet, we don't need to shove them deeper in.

You get people that swipe everyone in desperation, then inconsistency in use where some use it like "notice me senpai, plz message me I'm too scared to be an adult and send the first message", while others use it as just a means of personal validation by number of likes/matches, others use it just as a way to say they think you're a cool person and in no way as an induction they're actually interested, while others will use it when you explicitly say you're not into what they are and they can't message you due to message filters but they're still going to try, etc.

Swiping based on pics is literally the worst thing about online dating. It discourages people actually reading a profile and getting to know someone.

Okay, I took a look at the comments and I've went back through my settings. Here are some of the things that will allow men to message you. And I did not know this until I looked back at everything that was checked yes, it says orientation is straight. Looking for women
But there's a list of things that you are looking for friends.
I'm assuming this one will allow men to message you because you're looking for friends. Chat buddies.
So you need to take a look at some of these things because I have and I'm going to redo them when I get home. And see, if that will take away a man messaging me all the time, but I do believe, if you've got it set for friends, anybody can I missed you

I mean LTR is honestly not that hard to out together with it, it's fairly common. It's just not as common anymore due to the influx of the hookup culture and such. But before that was as popular it was more normalized and easier to match together 🤷‍♀️

Different sections have different filters, the "matches" look only at your bdsm personality test and the gender you are looking for, not what they are looking for. The "kinkster search" has separate filters just for the search results and those filters are mostly only available to premium and VIP members; those filters seem to work for me. The "home" page has its own filters, those filters apply to what posts you see in the "home" page BUT doesn't apply to some types of posts. On the "home" filters you can see some types of posts you can opt to see that are global, those are "news", "friends and faves" and "discussions" which have a globe next to them, those with the globe ignore your "home" filters as they are global categories. You may also be referring to the "kinksters near you" carousel which I think is just based on the gender you look for and their location...so I have lesbians in mine often.
